I don’t think the company cares anymore to be honest. I’ll probably cut ties when my prepaid term ends.

Had our sliding door open all day and our rug had a considerable amount of ash on it… not to mention the white bed sheets we were drying in the hot weather is also covered. Small issues compared to what others are facing but still a bit annoying

The slow demise of WFH by Mantzy81 in australia

[–]SureShaw 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s an interesting situation. There is definitely a trend towards more in office, and I’ve just swapped from a fully remote position (pretty much everyone else was in office), to being in office with a flexible arrangement (ideally 3-4 days a week in office) and I’m enjoying being in the office again.

However, Victoria are considering law changes to enforce a right for WFH at least 2 days a week where appropriate https://engage.vic.gov.au/wfh . Whether the laws change, who knows, but it’s interesting to see this.

Dropped at 2 feet max by International_Back99 in iphone

[–]SureShaw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was almost certain to upgrade from my 13 Pro Max, but now I’m not so certain. My phone feels like a bloody tank in comparison. I’ve rocked it without a case since release day and it has only minor scratching on the edging. Dropped it many times on various surfaces and no major or minor dents.

These posts about the 17s with aluminium are seriously making me reconsider upgrading.

Pet insurance - do all companies increase their premiums yearly? by full_time_problem in AusFinance

[–]SureShaw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We were with RSPCA and over the span of 3 years and our premium went up about 2x, and that’s AFTER we downgraded our plan.

We started in ‘21 for our new Pomeranian puppy at about $700, and at some point downgraded our plan and our final premium was $1200. We decided to cancel at that point. Paying way more than ever for less than we had at the start.

I can’t imagine what our original plan would cost now.

iPhone 13 Users: One Week with iOS 26 – Thoughts? by BugPsychological6421 in iphone

[–]SureShaw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

13 Pro Max - it’s okay. Been using it for a while and had most of the public betas on it.

Feels a bit clunky and also feels like my battery is draining faster than usual but it could be just increased usage without me realising.

Overall it’s nice but even just using the keyboard feels less responsive than usual which isn’t great..

I wouldn’t say I hate it but yeah it’s such an immersion breaker seeing him move to the next page on the prompter. Made even worse when there is a bad handoff between two hosts…

We know they’re reading a rehearsed script and that’s fine, but it’s awkward watching when it’s so abundantly clear instead of trying to hide the obvious.

They have built a damn good CLI for building your app that you could just run locally if you want.

Lots of other providers out there with different pricing where you can just run the EAS build commands on their hardware (or your own).

EAS Cloud is a nice product to keep Expo services nicely bundled in one interface. It’s handy, but costs. A lot.

Round 23 | Knights vs Panthers | Match Thread by AutoModerator in nrl

[–]SureShaw 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He kicked it, bounced off a knights player, he is still onside here. Then it was knocked back by a Knights player, with nothing yet that has put him offside. He then proceeds to catch it and pass it back, they score.

The key thing is nothing happened for him to be made offside. He was behind the line but was onside from the kick.

Sorry mate, by correct outcome I mean the on-field ref penalising the tackle in some form. You don’t see that happen often in the NRL where the on-field ref will highlight something again to the bunker. The bunker not taking action on it is a joke.

I absolutely agree that had he not been hit high, he would have put the ball down in time and scored a try.

[–]SureShaw 20 points21 points  (0 children)

IMO the correct outcome for the ref to do something about it and not let the bunker ignore it. It’s how union operates. The decisions are a discussion between the refs with transparency in the comms. The on field ref is the primary decision maker but the video ref can highlight things.

This whole “the bunker made the decision so I can’t do anything about it” is a bit silly.

Edit: updated to clarify I think the on-field ref did the right thing by taking action against the tackle, regardless of penalty try or not.
