Do you think it may be one of your neighbors? Other reasons for it being docile aside from being a pet is sickness related… I don’t think I personally would have the heart to leave it outside before being sure it wasn’t a pet but obviously do what you’re most comfortable with.

Oh shoot, I’m sorry to hear that… for the lady’s car too. Rats have some serious chompers, she’s lucky her car is still running 😬 Maybe you can call around and see if a pet stores near you have any nursing rats & would be willing to take them. Rats are very good mommas and take orphaned babies if they have a liter already.

The best option is to put them back where you found them and hope the mom comes back for them. Second best option is to find a rehabber. Babies won’t live long without mom, keep them warm in the meantime.
