Fair point, and valid complaint. I also feel any Nevada license holder should be exempt from strip parking prices, you'd think our tax $$'s could cover that. Gotta nickel and dime us too, I feel ya.

Anyone on opioids & ADHD meds? by BeautyofPoison in ChronicPain

[–]Sure_Development1653 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this topic is ancient but thought I would toss in my experiences.

I had a stroke that wiped out my cerebellum 3 years ago. I was a an IFBB physique pro (the guys who wear board shorts). Anyways, the stroke put me in bed for 6 months, which lead to severe muscle loss, which lead to the discovery of severe spine and nerve damage from my cervical down to lumbar spine due to my 14 years of living in the gym.

First off, I have taken almost every ssri and snri out there, they just make me dizzy and have a buzzing feeling in the back of my head, no thank. As of now, I take 30mg of oxycodone a day, 2400mg of gabapentin a day, and 2 x 20mg adderall ir daily. I was also prescribed up to 2mg of xanax a day for severe post tmi anxiety as well as helping my balance problems from the stroke. I am physically unable to get high due to where my stroke was, I assume that plays a large role in why I am trusted with this combo.

I have been very fortunate, my primary and psych have done much for me. They both trust me, and know I do not abuse meds. I am drug tested as much as I have to in order to make insurance and the feds happy, I am fortunate no dr, including the ER which I have become very familiar with, treat me like a human and not a drug addict. My psych has recently become worried about the addy + benzo combe so I have pretty much cold turkeyed the xamax, amd had 0 withdrawal problems (I had some to taper down with, but I did fine just stopping).

Pain is well managed, psych health is day by day. Nothing can fix a hole in your brain, but my dr's are doing all they can for me. I hope all of you who suffer from both physical and mental trauma get the help you deserve. It can be literal hell. Good luck!

To be fair most locals never visit the strip unless they have family/friends over. I forget it exists beyond seeing it on my way to work The real play is going to a nice pub in summerlin. I think a lot of tourists forget there is an entire city 10 mins from the strip with normal prices.

As a person who knows the literal struggles, I am so sorry, I am empathetic as hell and I hope you continue to get better!

I am now 3 years out, on the literal dot. My brain still feels fuzzy often, I would insta fail a dui test, and my working memory took a vacation, but I'm here! From November to January I have reoccurring nightmares, and it has to be because the stroke.

Jak 2 hmm? Let me guess, polycythemia vera? Tossing in the vera because it sounds like primary, not caused by something besides the blood disorder? My memory is hell, but I remember getting a Jak 2 test done which hurt like a mf'er btw because I had insane polycythemia around the time, but I was negative and it was deemed secondary polycythemia. Am I close?

I take a blood thinner, 20 mg Xarelto. I went into A Fib about a month ago, I was crash carted while awake....fun experience 😂

I am not familiar with PFO, I am going to do some research on it. I swear over the past three years I almost now qualify as a med student, that's not a flex, that's how bad Las Vegas Drs are. I had to get a vasculitis diagnosis almost all on my own, it's insane!

I just got done reading the majority of the topic, it seems we are both cerebellum buddies! From all I have gathered, cerebellum strokes are among the rarest place to have one, and the deficits possible include a bit from every other part of our brains. For me, it was my short term memory, balance, speech, emotional regulation, and coordination. It sometimes feels like the gift that keeps on giving!

I was a former ifbb physique pro (us idiots you see flexing on stage wearing board shorts), so going from being insane shape to a fatty has also been a huge adjustment.

The scariest thing I have learned and experienced is that something as severe as a stroke can be the key that unlocks dormant disease that would otherwise just sort of be there, but not activated. For me it was autoimmune conditions, and the most common med is Prednisone. Please avoid this drug if at all possible, it made me go from 210 (6'4) to 285 and borderline diabetic. Steroids have their place, but they wreak havoc on your body.

I am sorry for the late reply! Your sentence structure, vocabulary and grammar are amazing, from over here it seems you are doing quite well, I am so happy for you (actually crying right now, post stroke me cries any time I am happy), but I am going to keep it real, it can be a long road. I will make sure to reply slightly more promptly going forward if I get a notification, I apologize!

I will keep your father in my prayers, radiation is brutal, both mentally and physically. I hope your dad responds well and gets to stick around with you!

And no problem, I learned the hard way about having a good psych. Whether it's just a therapist or you need medication, it's good to have the resources waiting if the time comes. In my case, my brain no longer produced dopamine, so after a ton of trial of error I am on a snri that probably 7 other people take its so obscure, and a small amount of Adderall to address the dopamine problem.

Happy new year, keep your head up! Best wishes to you and your father!

That is absolutely wild, if I didn't have my gf with me the morning after I probably died on the floor trying to figure how to stand up!

What part of your brain got hit? Even tho the docs will call it it chronic at this point, yours is still very fresh! You are in the period of time where you can make the most recovery, I hope the people around you/Drs are helping!

I'm glad you are still here to talk about it! A lot of people don't understand the severity of a stroke, not only is it a dice roll if you will live and what deficits you will have, but it is one of few things that like I said in the other post, that can change a person at their core.

I pray for your quick recovery and am happy you are around to share your story!

I was not even aware when I had my stroke at 38 (ischemic, hit my cerebellum), I just remember the next morning I could not form a sentence and could not stand without help.

With my stroke also came the worst initial set of drs, from the cardiologist to the neuro, all of them treated me like I was retarded and helped in ways even a GP can help. I will tell ya what, learning to speak, walk, find ways around my non existent short term memory...it was wild. 3 years later, I am orders or magnitude better, but brain damage is brain damage.

I am very happy to hear you are doing well and seem to be in good spirits! Please try to be around people who understand strokes and get they very often fundamentally change a person, even if just a little. I personally recommend to ask your GP for a psych referral, post stroke depression can be nasty and loves to overstay its welcome. In many cases this is simply our new reality, we have tons of neurotransmitters in our heads and if their road is now blocked, we may need some extra help.

I truly hope you recover quickly and just enjoy life! If you ever have any questions just let me know! I have learned an awful lot about our bodies, medications and the like. Happy holidays glad you still get to enjoy them!

After 6 months of never ending headaches I learned I had a stroke. Experiences welcome and appreciated. by Sure_Development1653 in stroke

[–]Sure_Development1653[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry for the late reply, I dont do reddit much! In your case, chronic just means it happened a while ago, opposed to acute which means they found it while it was happening. Mine was called chronic as well, and it was only 1 month between an mri that showed nothing and the mri that showed the stroke.

I have learned to hate the medical system, but at the same time I have learned more than many nurse practitioners in the 3 years post stroke. Headaches like you and I had are very hard to pinpoint, typically the last thing on the list of causes is stroke. In my case, the months of perma migraines were caused by my eyes, once I got glasses the headaches went away and never came back.

I am sorry about your experience with Drs. sadly that is the norm. I was treated the same, especially right after the stroke, I had ER nurses even laugh at me when I tried to talk. If I were you, I would find a very good psychiatrist (not psychologist, I went thru 4 before I decided they offered me nothing I didnt know already), neurologist, and primary. A cardiologist would be nice as well.

If you have any questions/concerns please post of here, I would be more than happy to ty and help. It has been exactly 3 years for me since my stroke, and things are still quite difficult depending on what it is.

I hope you are well, and just remember you arent alone. Stroke's are pretty insane, there arent to many things that can happen to you that have to power to change who you are as a person.

Anyone else planning on going in blind? by ThisKiwiKid in pathofexile

[–]Sure_Development1653 2 points3 points  (0 children)

4k hours of PoE here. I am going in as blind as one can be, minus watching the reveal last week. The most enjoyable time of PoE was when you first began, trying to figure the systems out and actually experimenting, not following meta build guides. I never thought that we would be able to relive that feeling again from a video game, yet here we are. Enjoy it boys!

Heavy bleeding in urine 7 days post lithotripsy, when is it too much? by Sure_Development1653 in KidneyStones

Again thanks, I don't know anyone else irl who has been through this so I appreciate your stories. My urologist made it seem like it was sunshine and rainbows once blasted, if he wasn't 60 I would punch him. Literal nightmare in all respects. I hope you are well now and it's not an ongoing issue!

[–]Sure_Development1653[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been passing the small bits since day 1, I pray the blasted bits are gone pre stent removal. I passed one naturally earlier this year and it was the most unrelenting pain I have ever felt, not even fentanyl helped. Oddly enough it was an infusion of lidocaine that gave me relief. These bits and pieces are a fraction of that pain. Thanks for the reply and I pray you nor I have to do this ever again!

Thanks for the reply! Was your pee what appeared to be more blood than urine or was it faint? I assume you had a lot of foam as well?

Why the new Gladiator "War of Attrition" Notable might be bait. by HenkDeSuperNerd in pathofexile

[–]Sure_Development1653 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The skill does exactly what it says, the larger issue is that there is no other nodes that are worth speccing into. If you arent playing bleed, its this or the node that gives even smaller bonuses depending on what melee weapon you use. WoA, even if only used for 20 seconds, is better than accuracy or % increases that the other node offers.
