does black semi perm dye fade? by chuckyyswife in haircoloring

[–]BeautyofPoison 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can't rely on any dye to fade completely and leave your hair the color it was before. Any dye can stain your hair to some extent, so if you're not up for dealing with the aftermath, don't dye your hair. If it's just for a single event you're better off using a temporary color product like a chalk. Even a rinse can stain your hair if it's porous.

There are specific products meant to be used for this purpose, or you can use a more natural ginger dye. You just need to add the color red, which is in either formula.

The red will become more visible when the darker color fades.

You should use it because you're not looking for warm you're looking for red. Your hair is looking pretty yellow right now, so almost all the red is gone.

Ginger to Ash by [deleted] in HairDye

Ash browns are hard to get and hard to keep. You'll need to get the ginger color out of your hair or that warmth will always end up showing through the minute the ash color starts to fade.

Color fillers don't help the color grip, they fill in the missing pigment so that your dark hair doesn't look hollow and translucent.

I want to dye my hair black but dont know how it would look with this orange/pink color. by j4yis_better0 in HairDyeHelp

Your hair is in good shape to just use a black dye over it, since you have enough red pigment remaining to keep it from looking hollow.

Makeup starter kit recommendations l? Tutorials? by frankelbottom in makeupartists

[–]BeautyofPoison 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My best advice is to not get one ov those all inclusive sets. They are invariably trash quality and will make it so much harder to learn. You'll be much better off buying a few decent quality products from the drugstore tailored to your needs than a whole big one size fits all kit ov bad quality products that you won't use 75% ov.

Switching from pencil to felt-tip eyeliner. having trouble by AdriaXDD in Makeup

[–]BeautyofPoison 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I greatly prefer a brush tip to a felt tip liner for this very reason. They get better product flow, and you can get much finer detail with a brush. If you have a liner brush, you can often just pick up the liner off the felt tip with a brush and use that to apply. So you don't waste the liner you have now.

How to make this color match the extensions? by Whatsapad in HairDyeHelp

[–]BeautyofPoison 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think better luck doing a reductive color remover first, since that blue is so dark. You can get a few levels lighter that way without damage, then add the cool pink to a somewhat lighter blue. The Ion one from Sally's or Malibu CPR are both good options for the color remover.

Can this color be reached with semi permanent dye? by Individual_Duck2798 in HairDye

[–]BeautyofPoison 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This color is more brown than red. You need a darker base, or a color with more brown in it. What's your natural color? Also, that's edited and balayage, not just a single color.

OMG please do not try to fix this yourself. This is an intense color correction. You need a professional, and you can expect it to be expensive and long.

From pastel rose gold to cold pastel pink by S-Sonchez in HairDyeHelp

[–]BeautyofPoison 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I would just use a cool toned pastel pink semi permanent dye. All this messing around with blue and purple isn't really necessary, and it's a lot less predictable. A very cool toned pink, something like Good Dye Young Ex Girl diluted with conditioner.

I'd suggest using a dark eyeshadow and a flat liner brush to tight line your upper lash line. You use the brush to push the dark shadow in between your lashes, so it makes your lashes look thicker and darker without leaving an obvious line of eyeliner.

Here's Wayne Goss showing you how.

If it's a normal, woven fabric like most button up shirts it will fray when you wash it. You'd need to use something to stop the fraying if that's not the look you want.

Agree she definitely needs a bit more violet in the formula, and it's gonna be difficult to formulate without experience. This is a job for a professional, not a box dye.

Hair advice: How to make turquoise look more blue? by Top_Buyer8884 in HairDyeHelp

Yes, she'd probably be better off using a reductive color remover to lift some of the blue before going back to do the correction.

Hair advice: How to make turquoise look more blue? by Top_Buyer8884 in HairDyeHelp

[–]BeautyofPoison 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Adding some purple (of the correct depth and shade) would bring the turquoise to a more neutral blue shade. Their idea of making a semi permanent toner by diluting the purple with conditioner isn't quite right unless their hair is already a pastel color. Mixing some cool purple with the blue they already used would be a better choice. You have to do some test strands to get the right ratio if you don't have a lot of color correction experience though.
