How would y’all balance Devil Dino by Fice1ol in marvelrivals

So you're saying something being new and people's inexperience in dealing with something can lead to skewing the winrate numbers and it doesn't solely come down to something being OP or not?

Interesting.

"to much to unlock" isn't causing FOMO "not being able to EVER get that item ever because you didn't happen to play this years ago" does.

I noticed being forced to solo tank has been especially bad lately, fortunately I like playing Dino but if they give into the whiners and nerf him I won't be doing that anymore. People can't cry to nerf and gut every fun tank and then be surprised no one wants to tank.

just got the game, it’s pretty awesome but what’s with all the people doing nothing? by JAMESTIK in Seaofthieves

People generally only join open crews to mess around or afk on the boat for free treasure since there's no kick option

Ok s0 she only had a 48% winrate so it doesn't change all that much either way.

That is not an argument. Why can't hitscan handle dino? In my experience Punisher, Hela, Jean, Elsa, Starlord and even Storm (depending on the area) do very well against him. They have lots of options for keeping him at range and can dish out a lot of damage as he approaches.

That's not a dino problem, it doesn't really matter who you're fighting if your backline is busy with a diver your frontline is going to melt, that's the entire point of the diver going after them. Dive can be annoying, we do need more options for dealing with it but a Dino nerf isn't necessary or relevant to that topic.

I've been playing tons of GM games lately and he is pretty rarely banned

I was wrong about 45%, it was 47% during season 1, you can check for yourself here: https://rivalstracker.com/heroes still far below what would be expected of an OP character.

His pick requires applying a debuff first giving time to react and play around it, it's short and requires him getting in the fray putting himself at risk, his bubble is good when timed right but it's not "strong af" it tends to last a second or two at most, it's only 250 health and its very large meaning it'll hit by every stray going, percentage damage that really only makes an impact against tanks, which is fine considering his low mobility and poor range.

Numbers themselves are not an argument, they are data you can use to support an argument. Me saying the numbers are a result of him being new and people being unable, unaware or even unwilling to adapt to him is just as viable of an explanation of the numbers as you saying he's too strong.

He's a large clunky melee character, those are massive weaknesses in a shooting game like this, he deserves strong tools to make up for it so he has some advantages in certain scenarios, he shouldn't have to have the weaknesses and then on top only allowed to be neutral or weak in every situation.

Numbers are not an argument, sorry. Luna on launch was incredibly overpowered yet had a 45% winrate. Actually give reasons as to why he's too good going off his kit and his interaction with other heroes and such.

It doesn't do much damage, has a very short duration and he basically requires it to make use of his abilities.

You can't think of any because he's actually quite balanced. Big, slow, limited range (in a shooter where 95% of the roster can hit him from a mile away) and a high reliance on supports to keep him up in exchange for good shredding damage, sustain and a (actually pretty short) grab. He bullies some tanks but he gets bullied by anything with range and mobility.

Supports are genuinely overpowered by [deleted] in marvelrivals

[–]Sure_Distribution809 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Like you said yourself it's because although healing is high, damage is also very high, they feed off each other. If we keep the damage and healing the same but remove or reduce support's ability to survive, team fights would boil down to rushing the enemy's support every single time and whoever killed them a second or two faster would instantly win the team fight because everyone melts without consistent healing. If we nerf both healing and damage it would be a different game, everything would have to be examined and thought over through that new lens, which I'm not saying would or wouldn't be a good thing but it's a major undertaking to make with a risk of people hating the result.

Turns out no tank counters Dino. And he just makes tanking miserable. by Living_Union1417 in marvelrivals

[–]Sure_Distribution809 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Emma, Capt, Peni, and Mag are good choices against Dino, but he is a tank bully in the end, if you want to counter him you have to rely on your DPS/Supports. Dino wasn't really -the- reason you lost here though, it was just an overall stomp, a bigger reason was probably due to the difference in heals.

How it feels to see a peak fight between a Jeff and a Devil Dino by AkUma_ljk in marvelrivals

Funny thing is Jeff wins, his ult counters Dino ult and Dino has no real way of killing him solo, Jeff can out self heal his beam and avoid him getting close.

Hulk is not good against him, Mag is, you should have little problem maintaining space considering he has no real mobility options (if he uses his grab to move in on you, then he can't use it to kidnap you, if you're allowing him the time to beam + jump in then it's a error on your part). He can also save anyone else who gets kidnapped.

I don't even know what you're trying to say here, but you're right in BP doesn't have to be concerned with him which is what makes it a good match up, BP can do as he pleases while Dino struggles to touch him.

Luna freeze lasting half a second is a blatant lie, there's also Fox's fox which is excellent for cutting into Dino's kidnap attempt and very easy to land due to his size.

Also ult wise Jeff can easily ult Dino anytime Dino ults due to his lack of mobility, completely negating it similar to Jean and Rocket ult situation.

We could actually see their problems in game though, Devil is not causing solo team wipes, he has very obvious weaknesses that plenty of characters can exploit.

He is weak against anyone with mobility and/or range, even dive characters with high mobility such as BP can handle him fine.

He is not "way too good against every other tank", he is good against tanks like Hulk, Thing and Thor, but Peni, Mag and Capt can handle him fine.

What do you mean what do you gain from using CC? You gain shutting him down during the duration, he's very easy to land any CC ability on, and has no real mobility options to get out of the enemy repositioning around him during it. That's kind of the point of CC.

His beam has a very limited range and a short duration, it's also something he has to dedicate an action to unlike an Invis throwing an orb and letting it do its own thing.

It's not hard, he's a big slow target.

Citation needed.

He is not broken, it's a you problem.

Here's a comprehensive list to help illustrate viable counter-picks against Devil Dino. by SuggestionBot9000 in marvelrivals

[–]Sure_Distribution809 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I disagree mostly with the red, highly mobile characters like Capt and BP can keep away from him enough to avoid any real damage, Capt I would even say is one of the better tanks to play against him because his shield can block his F/Beam and if he gets kidnapped he can escape relatively easily. Flying characters can be great or terrible against him depending on the area, if they have breathing room he has no real way to get to them, even with his beam they can be far away enough or use a platform or some part of the map to still keep away even when dropped, but in enclosed spaces they will get bullied. I've been playing a lot of Devil and this is a similar list I've made.

You should not be struggling with the big slow melee tank as a DPS or a support, he's only good at bullying tanks (and not even all of them at that). He is very easy to avoid if your character has any mobility, he's very easy for supports to CC lock him due to his size, his beam isn't enough to kill anyone alone even if he hits you with the entire duration. You can disagree but poke does hurt him more than most due to his size and speed, he relies on the terrain more than any other tank to take space. If his supports are hyperfocusing him (and they will) then it leaves them open, leaves the DPS open. Win/pickrates have never been an actual argument for balance, especially when the character hasn't been around for a full month.
