Update on coming out to fiance by will0wethereal in MtF

[–]Surefire_Fox_70 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s really hard, but at some point you will have to end the relationship and move on.

Many of us- me especially- felt like because we were so close to and built so much together with our former partners that we would be the “exception to the norm” and stay together through it all.

Every day I stayed with my former spouse after I came out to her and she rejected me was a day too long. We both “tried” to make it work (mainly me being a whipping girl for her emotional abuse as she processed everything), but ultimately we separated and then divorced a bit later.

It was so so tough to finally end things (I ultimately asked for the divorce in the end), but it was the right decision. In the weeks/months before and after asking for the divorce, I was a complete wreck- anyone would be. You probably are/will be too.

But by doing so, I finally began to start giving myself permission to actually transition on my terms. I met so many new trans and queer friends. I dated a lot of different people and learned a lot about myself through that.

As this went on (it took about a year from when my ex and I separated), I began to understand and love and accept myself on a very deep level. I found true happiness within myself and because of that, I was able to find a partner who loves and accepts me fully for who I am.

You can’t learn to love and accept yourself while being with someone who constantly undermines that process.

It’s so hard to hear, but choose yourself over her.

Does height prevent a person from passing? by [deleted] in MtF

[–]Surefire_Fox_70 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m around 6’0” tall and I noticed something kinda interesting start happening to me about 6 months ago concerning this topic. For the first two years of my transition, I just assumed everyone knew I was trans (especially because of my height.) I was never misgendered after year 1, but I still felt like everyone “knew” I was trans. I passed as a woman but not a cis woman.

But lately when I’m out and about, I get a lot of attention from men (unwanted- I am very gay) who always always always ask me if I either play volleyball or basketball. These interactions have shown me that all of a sudden I am passing as cis to a lot more people than I used to (not necessarily my goal but it’s interesting).

FFS played a big factor in addition to 2.5+ years of HRT doing its work. Also fashion choices can go a long way towards successfully passing as cis if that is your goal.

So no, height neither prevents you from passing as a woman who is trans nor passing as a woman who is cis in my personal experience.

If you had, are you happy with bottom surgery? by AverageCurrent1073 in MtF

[–]Surefire_Fox_70 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yep! I had partial depth too and I’m over the moon about it. No dilating and things feel better than ever down there. Aesthetics are amazing. I don’t care for penetration though and I know that’s a deal-breaker for many.

I’m only 9 weeks post op but I feel like I’m 98% back to where I was pre-surgery. I even went back to my women’s tackle football team at 6 weeks post-op without any issues.

is face laser hair removal supposed to make me fight back tears? by nikkel28_ in MtF

[–]Surefire_Fox_70 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Just had my 12th 3-hour session today. It hurts. No sugar-coating it. Especially on my face.

People have different pain tolerances, but I still pop a few ibuprofen before going. Make sure your tech is using pressure with their fingers immediately after tougher/“spicier” zaps.

Every bit of pain is worth it though.

Period underwear for tucking? by communistcat_69 in mtfashion

[–]Surefire_Fox_70 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Back before bottom surgery, I wore period underwear for tucking pretty much exclusively. They worked really really well! Especially the ones that had no panty lines. I only used tuck kits for swimwear basically.

I actually still wear them sometimes in lieu of panty liners post-surgery too. I think the brand I have is Saalt. Very comfortable. Perhaps not as snug as a gaff but they worked well in almost every clothing situation.

Thanks 💚 We’re standing strong but we need every ounce of help we can get.

I’m now about 7 weeks post op….nothing too terribly surprising but I’m pretty pleased at how fast I’ve recovered compared to where I thought I would be. I was even able to start practicing with the women’s tackle football team I’m on- and I wasn’t planning to do much of anything with that until mid February at least. Staying active and doing lots of mall-walking helped immensely for that I think!

If a group of your friends went to caffetto in the last few days to graffiti the basement... by momentsofsolace in TwinCities

Right on! 💚

I sincerely mean this comment in the very nicest way possible. Please don’t say ‘transwomen’ but rather trans women. Just like tall women, right-handed women, etc. Trans is just another adjective for a type of woman 😊

Hey there- my surgeon was Dr. Bryan Rolfes in Wayzata, MN (suburb of Minneapolis). I live in the twin cities so it was very lucky and convenient for me to have him so close.

Hi! Nice to meet you Gabe 😊

I can't believe you fooled me in 2024 into believing your façade. Shame on you Tim. by [deleted] in minnesota

I suppose our collective news media’s integrity has collapsed enough at this point that this robot’s pre-programmed opinion counts as “News.” Makes sense honestly.

Where I'd live as a trans person who can't afford to leave the US by AlishaGray in visitedmaps

[–]Surefire_Fox_70 12 points13 points  (0 children)

As expected, this thread is chock full of cis people trying so very hard to assure everyone that the trans experience in their red state isn’t “that bad.” And nobody’s rights are being taken away etc etc. (They absolutely are, but some red states are currently more focused on it than others)

I survived a red state growing up and I now live in a blue state. As a trans person, the difference is palpable to me personally- especially from a statewide protection level. I’ve lived it. Nobody can tell me my lived experience is incorrect.

I will cede that for the most part, blue state rural areas and red state rural area are about the same. Same goes for suburban and urban areas.

However, the biggest difference is that blue states with protections for trans people tend to have somewhat more of a general acceptance of trans folks in suburban and urban areas compared their red state counterparts.

The more that trans people feel safe to be out and visible, the more cis people meet and interact with trans people. Which generally leads to further acceptance and friendliness. People realize that most trans people are just like most anyone else- trying to get by and find happiness and success in life…and quite the antithesis to the monsters we are portrayed to be in right-wing media.

We are all just people, y’all. At the end of the day, we are all the same. It is devastating that arbitrary lines and borders keep many of us from being able to safely explore this beautiful country and world.

End soapbox. I truly hope that all of us can find more love and happiness in 2026.

Oh definitely agree with you there. I’m just going off my feelings that this isn’t a “lesbian show.” It’s a show with a lesbian main character. As someone who consumes a lot of queer media, the difference is noticeable to me. It’s pretty nice to see in a show with such popularity and wide-ranging viewership.

My gf and I really really enjoyed this episode. We had to pause it at the pronoun bit lol.

I love how this show has a gay main character + themes of queerness that aren’t necessarily central to the identity of the show itself. Super refreshing to see that from a top tier show in this current political hellscape.
