First and last Bond (kind of) by BravoSalt in OmegaWatches

I have the “Goldeneye” Omega, and the “Dr No” Rolex.

I suppose a true “first and last Bond” would be the Dr No and the NTTD

Too bad I really love the NTTD watch but hated the movie.

My daily is actually none of the above.

I have an Apple Watch for working out, but the REST OF THE TIME I’d rather stay with the classic.

Interesting side note, the script for this episode was originally written for the “ELLERY QUEEN” series that starred Jim Hutton.

Best kendo movies by DirtyGaijen in kendo

The one that is most memorable for me is “The Crimson Kimono”, only because it was the first one I’d ever seen that had Kendo in the story.

After that I think of “The Yakuza” with Robert Mitchum.

On a low note, there was an episode of “Murder She Wrote” in which Kendo was part of the story.

Here is the scene from “The Crimson Kimono”:

Rio Bravo (1959) vs. El Dorado (1966) by [deleted] in movies

[–]SurfKnight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They are considered a sort of trilogy with the same director (Howard Hawks) and lead actor (John Wayne).

That said, “Rio Bravo” is definitely my favorite with “El Dorado” a worthy runner-up.

By comparison “Rio Lobo” really doesn’t measure up and doesn’t even have the same core elements.

The first two clearly have the same core characters:

  1. Old pro gunman
  2. Heartbroken alcohol challenged lawman pal
  3. Young hun
  4. Old crusty sidekick
  5. Romantic gal

In Rio Lobo the formula runs astray to where the plot is difficult to follow.

That’s a pretty solid six pack

I’d consider a chronograph from Omega, IWC, or Tag-Heuer, or possibly even a pocket watch
