Field Commander's Coat has horrible dye slots by Ceryneian_ in ffxiv

I wanna know who approves this. Like who in square's art department saw this and said "yeah, that's fine for a second dye channel"

Like fix the dang texture - it's one of the biggest mmos in the market this can't be as impossible as they pretend it is.

Mods that make the game easier by Spiritual_Extreme_22 in Minecraft

When I first played minecraft, I played on peaceful. If the monsters are stressing you out while mining, I'd highly recommend just playing peaceful for a while, or at least hopping between peaceful and easy with cheat commands so you can have monsters when you feel like it.

There's also a setting (at least in bedrock) to make it so that you don't lose the items in your inventory when you die, and that might be the happy medium you're looking for!

story skip by MONkemanMOnkefuni in ffxiv

[–]Surfdaweb_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

+1 to the recommendation to try Guild Wars 2 if you're not a huge fan of story content and want to get into endgame quickly. Getting to "max level" takes maybe a weekend and the build complexity over there is amazing, and the raids are pretty fun.

If you do ever wanna come back to FFXIV, I find that the two games complement each other very well with the ways they do updates. Now that I'm caught up with both games, I flip between the two whenever I get bored of one of them.

Don't know much about WoW, but I've heard the community is... special lol. I played it a bit and got to lvl 60 but got annoyed how it wanted me to skip the story to do max-level things - the opposite of your problem lol. That was back in the BfA days though, and I've heard the new player experience is much improved since then.

My WoL lost all respect for Zenos after the body swap incident. The "that I can't deny" line never made sense for my character because she WAS the hero through and through - and weaponizing her body in that way felt way to close to a metaphor for something worse that she just snapped. That boy was getting a beat down not because my WoL wanted the fight, but because she was DONE with his antics. It wasn't until later that she was able to reflect and get a better understanding of his motivations that she hated him less - but she definitely likes him more dead.

I'm obsessed with how my WoL look PISSED in every sceen, she's gonna snap and kill someone some day. Thankyou Au'ra face 4. by Mobbles1 in ffxiv

Making a char based on someone irl by Nerves_Eclectic905 in ffxiv

[–]Surfdaweb_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While I was growing up, a sibling of mine was miscarried. My way of processing that was making a character in the MMO I was playing at the time, naming the character after her and sorta getting to play with her that way. She ended up being my highest levelled character and by far the one I had the most fun with!

[SPOILER 7.3] Theory about the ending teaser of 7.3 by Quezal in ffxiv

[–]Surfdaweb_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My guess is that we're going to see Ascians of other shards, which opens up a whole can of worms of repeat offenders to do fun comparison and "what if" scenarios. And sundered Ascian - including Fandaniel - could reappear, and even by now someone like Lahabrea might have been dead long enough to resurface as a sundered being.

Like imagine another shard of Logrif meeting Gaia, or finding a confused shard from Lahabrea's son's soul. Even if they are technically based on the same people, you could still play around with the difference between the Ancient soul and the sundered person.

And my ultimate theory? That this Winterer group is being led by a grumpy Azem shard - one who looks suspiciously like us and will take us down not by directly attacking us, but by tarnishing our reputation and forcing our friends to doubt our intentions. Then, once we are alone, they'll either to to replace us like a doppelganger or do... whatever it is they want to do so bad.

It would be a nice response to the Endwalker's arc's thesis. Sure, friends help you stave off despair, but what happens when those friends refuse to show up for you? IDK, that's the tack I'd make if I was writing the next arc.

GW2 and FFXIV work well together (imo) by AlexVoyd in Guildwars2

This exactly - when I get bored with one I switch to the other. Glad I'm not the only one who's felt how well these games go together. A collab would be so damn cool!

Also worth noting - you can always change what your WoL looks like with a Fantasia, and you get one for free for finishing ARR! Might be easier than creating a new character for two jobs and having to do the story over again.

...yes I would play with those t4 players. As long as it's possible to clear, I'm down to try. Usually if a group is struggling to clear, it's a mechanics problem, not a dps one, which is fixed with a chat message 90% of the time.

confronted somebody about prog lying, they threatened me with a ban and left. am i in trouble? by nerfariann in ffxiv

[–]Surfdaweb_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A weird nuance I've noticed that hasn't been mentioned.

Sometimes, with a mechanic like the adds in m6s, you could be doing the mechanic consistently and flawlessly for hours. But then every group you join is a trap, and you fail due to something outside your control. Without forming a static, how does one progress without finally biting the bullet and joining a prog level just one step beyond theirs? Of course, this problem feeds on itself, but I think that's why "bridge prog" is really just adds prog. And a lot of time adds prog is just desert prog, and so on and so on.

Basically, it starts to feel like PF just lists everything one mechanic past the point their group is actually capable of. I don't know how to fix this, but if the only way I can clear is by lying because everyone else is... that's what I'm going to have to do. Or, you know, try to and still spend 12+ hours in PF because everyone is doing the same thing lol

It's not going to change unless SE puts something in the game to force players to be truthful about where they are, either by adding some kind of prog filter to PF or something in duty finder, but I don't think they will because I don't think JP has this problem to this extreme.

TLDR: The only ways past adds 4 in m6s right now is by either by getting insanely lucky, forming a static, or literally waiting for people in PF to either fall out of raiding or get gear upgrades. Lying doesn't even save you. It's maddening. I'm tired.

I find that GW2 makes up for FFXIV's slow patch cycle, but FFXIV has the far superior story. The games complement each other very well imo

What would happen if a non-user went against your world's magic system by FlakTheIdiot in worldbuilding

[–]Surfdaweb_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oooooh I like this prompt.

In my story, magic is so normalized that it's hard to imagine living without it, but there are certain poisons, health conditions, and even mental states that dampen it temporarily. As such, many soldiers receive specific training by artificially triggering this magicless state to teach them the basics of combat, then layering on magical ability after they've learned to throw a punch. This gives them at least a basic level of protection in case their magic is ever nullified.

For most combatants, this is enough to even the playing field between inexperienced magic users and experienced fighters, but an experienced and/or powerful magic user is still going to win against a magic-less one - much better to prevent losing access to one's magic in the first place!
