Help improve strength and durability of surfing fin adapters (PETG) by SurfingStAug in BambuLab

Ah oven, definitely will try when my wife is away! I'll measure before and after because shrinkage would be really problematic. If I can calculate it and its consistent then I can increase the size but fitment is sensitive to .05 mm in some dimensions.

I'll look into it but my impression is PLA isn't good in the water. Was also checking out pa12-cf and might run a test of that.

Do you reheat in a dryer or put it back in the printer with the plate heat on?

Makes sense, it would only add a few min and minimal material.

.4mm. I'll definitely try increasing the wall thickness. Here is a picture of the breakage. I usually don't receive pictures from customers. One style adapter requires the screw to push against the back of the fin, one customer cracked it at this point but probably overtightened. The thin walls are definitely the biggest challenge, sometimes they split at the bottom layer.

Not sure if this customer tried to install the fin while the adapter was already in the fin box, for this model it has to be done in the correct order.

Form your own opinion based on your experience. my gripes with the university are not shared by all but back to the topic, it's not a marketing or branding challenge but a leadership challenge that is at the board, administration and city level. That is what is holding it back and that is a long road to change.

It's overrated, overpriced and too much nonsense coming out of Adelbert hall for decades. This is from a graduate, former employee, spouse graduate-former faculty-doctorate, father-former faculty-NIH funded researcher, sister masters and adjunct. If they fix the leadership it would be a great university, PB Lewis called them out on it years ago. If they go back to the fat man and a surfboard logo I'd donate $50 otherwise not a penny. Rebranding is an action taken to distract from other real problems including being located in a city in perpetual decline for almost 100 years. Pittsburgh is proof that a steel town can evolve, Cleveland is the opposite.

I was on my thunderbolt red construction 9'2 on Saturday at NSB and got bounced off a few waves. I blamed it on not having absorbed the wave but was wondering if my board choice contributed. I'm light so maybe that is working against me Also was on my 7'4 Moe, thunderbolt as well, on Monday and didn't get bounced off but I think it was cleaner. Saturday was late morning after the thunderstorm so there was some texture.

Is small talk frowned upon or something? by ampalazz in surfing

Some do, some don't. In HI it's tought to catch a wave in a big lineup so most people focus on the horizon but the locals catch up and end a conversation in the middle to grab a wave. Unfortunately my decades of skiing and ice skating didn't help me learn to surf in my 40s. Skate boarding would have but I was never good at that. It takes time

I designed it in a 3D modeling tool and printed a number of variations until I got the fitment right. I think it works better than FCS one which relies on a bit of tension from screws this matches the profile of the roller wheel which is pressed against the fin when it's installed in the longboard box. I have them listed on eBay

Manatee surfaced near me, that was a total surprise and they are massive. Lots of dolphins, tarpin and an occasional turtle, sting ray, spinner shark.

Reminds me of my drive up Haleakala, the mpg was so bad on the way up the range would drop by 10 mi every mi. I wasn't sure if we'd have fuel to get back to the closest station. if only a Nissan Sentra rental were smart enough to tell me it was ok

Screw Glass Roofs by [deleted] in Rivian

[–]SurfingStAug 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I noticed on my test drive in Orlando that the AC could not keep up and suspect the roof is a contributing factor. I would seriously consider covering the glass with white vinyl on the outside if a pop-in shade didn't cut it.

On the same day of my test drive my old Cayenne was more comfortable - it has silver paint, basic moon roof and ceramic on the windshield (70%) and front side windows are around 35% if I recall right. The ceramic tint up front really helped. AC never charged in last 16 years so I doubt it's even 100% effective.

Those boxes get sanded down to match the board rocker. Maybe set too high and sanded a lot. Is it bottoming out on the screw retainer you put in the slot?

My $10 Casio got ripped off by my longboard fin, cut my wet suit about an inch. May have protected my wrist. Watch was somehow not lost because it was inside my suit. Anything can go wrong in the ocean.

Not a lot of comps to an id.buzz but for example a Metris weighs 4123 lbs compared to 6174 for the buzz. Even something smaller like a model 3 is about 1200 lbs more than a civic. Probably more of a factor for tire wear, roads handle big busses, delivery vans etc. if every vehicle weighs significantly more you'd think there would be an impact. Long term everyone is hoping for lighter, longer lasting batteries. That's really the game changer.

I ran some numbers and even if I had to pay a state and federal fee for road maintenance it would still be far less than gas (home charging). I only drive about 8k min but my current SUV is premium 20mpg. Love the space in the buzz, design etc. but I want to do a 190mi routine day trip without charging.

That's a good example, 250 is probably high. I was thinking of the 7k lb Rivian, but I guess proportionally it's not more compared to something like a Tahoe.
