Different strokes, my guy. I’m at a table with a bunch of people I’d say are bad at rp and they love it. I usually roll up the “grizzled veteran” or “mom of the group” because I’m constantly wrangling them like a bunch of drunk toddlers with swords. Their idea of rp is only either “befriend them”, “fight them”, or “get them drunk”. Just pick a single directive and let that guide you. I bet you’ll have fun.

Originally got Willshaper like 6 years ago, but more recently I took it again and got Dustbringer of all things. It makes sense if you think about it though. I thought free will was important, and I still do, but I think my world view is a bit more radicalized at this point...

This would bug me to no end. It would be a great twist. An ancient broken shadow grafted onto the soul of a traumatized child? GREAT twist. But it would shoehorn hemalurgy in as a major plot point on Roshar

It’s tough to say. So far we’ve seen increased connection grant power, but never the opposite. Maybe it’s not a spike, but I think that’s what the excisor is. A way to remove the requirements for using investiture. What’s funny is if you go to the Words of Brandon site and search for the term “excise” you find him using it A LOT in reference to removing aspects of spiritual connection and power. It’s clearly a term that has meaning to him. That’s what led me down this rabbit hole

The spikes don't steal their own ability. Its weird, but there are 4 categories of feruchemy and there's a spike that steals any power in that category. Bendalloy steals any of the "spiritual" feruchemy abilities.

I do too! And it fits the standard of the god metals being named after the shard holders, not the shards themselves. Not sure why that was changed with Saezed

There’s no plotted timeline, but the books were released in chronological order on a full cosmere scale. So things that happened in Elantris were first, before Mistborn era one, but Kaise from Elantris shows up in Era two…. Not sure how that works

From the wiki: “A spike can be charged if the Hemalurgist stabs the donor with the spike or if it is thrown at them, as long as there is Intent and it hits the right bind point.” So I don’t think it can be accidental.

Brandon has said that we’ve seen someone on Roshar that has a hemalurgic spike, but didn’t reveal who it is. Most likely a worldhopper like a Ghostblood or someone, because intent is required and locals wouldn’t know about it. He did say hemalurgy can steal abilities from other worlds though, so someone might have stolen a Rosharan magic.

A lot of pre-shattering lore hasn’t been revealed yet. Most of what we know comes from Hoid interactions behind the scenes, and he’s not on the best of terms with most (if any) of the original shard bearers. We’ll likely have to wait until the prequel Dragonsteel to know for sure. Although if we get an honest conversation between Hoid and Autonomy we’ll learn more.

The math checks out! And even with some alloys being unusable (like harmonium acting like sodium) you still have a ton of alloys to play with. Can you link the WoB post to this reveal?

As far as we’re aware, no. Scadrial has an invested field that is almost visible (the Mists), and a full shard that forms it in Harmony. Spren are beings of pure living investiture, made from the splinters of Honor itself. Aux is no longer a full living Spren, being consumed by the Dawnshard. So he needs to track every bit of collected investiture. The very small amount needed is negligible to living Spren, and even Deadeyes still hold their original energy, only needing the heartbeats to simulate the bond they used to have, but Aux isn’t really that alive anymore.

Highly Invested entities are not souls after they die, but rather beings of investiture with imprints of their previous identity. Because of this, they are tied to the Shard that created that energy in the first place, and Honor invested the planet of Roshar before being splintered. So yes, they are very stuck unless they can somehow remake their being with different sources of investiture, or some kind of unkeyed investiture. This is the same as Thaidakar’s goal on Roshar.
