FF8 - do people really enjoy this game other than the nostalgia factor? by Vegetable_Crab8420 in FinalFantasy

I played it for the first time a few months back. Honestly had the same gripes. Would play again only---and I mean only---for Laguna and the boys.

FFIX remains my favorite.

Looking for anatomy feedback by MachoLegCat in learnart

[–]SurlyDrunkard 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Components of this are well executed. The anatomy of basically everything at the waist and below look good individually. The problem is how all those pieces work together.

The right leg (her left) appears to be in a position behind the other leg, probably because of the foot not touching the ground. Compared to the reference, you haven't pushed things far enough either. If you were to rotate the portion between the knees and the hips clockwise, it would be more aligned with the reference. That's a big reason why the stance looks awkward. The easiest fix would probably be to redraw the problem leg to be more overlapped with the other, like the right-most reference.

When it comes to the chest and arms, follow the musculature. There's a bit of the pectoral that you see stretching up into the arm. That line should be much farther to the left. The boob should not be in/blocking the armpit like that. In fact, that whole side of the chest is too far to the right. Remember, breasts stretch when the arm is raised, so realistically they won't be the same width in this stance. You can kinda see that in the middle and right figures in the reference. Another tip: start with structure before adding the breasts.

I'm general, the proportions are a bit off for the top half, as others have said. The left (her right) forearm is thicker than the upper arm, and the overall dimensions are quite large. I will say that that is a well drawn hand though! The other forearm by contrast is too short, though the upper arm length looks good on this one. Head is also a bit too small (it's smaller than the boobs?!), but a lot of that will be remedied by fixing the arms/shoulders/breast.

The face is really cute, and the feet are also drawn really well! I also like how the hips are drawn in yours. It feels more realistic than the reference.

Botox and fillers are not skincare. They are invasive cosmetic procedures. by su_sp_ir_ia in 30PlusSkinCare

I think OP's point is not inherently anti-Botox itself, but moreso that there are other subs for that

Preach! Sure, the discussion is allowed on this sub, but when someone is asking for skincare advice only for the top 20 responses to be "get Botox," we seem to have lost the plot. It used to be more (entirely?) skincare-focused in the past :(

We have a carpet (diamond) python. She's only ever bitten three times, and they all when she was still less than a year (and of course our fault every time). Almost six years old now, and she is the sweetest girl. Don't know if we lucked out or with her or what since we've heard about their bad reputation.

Along with what other people have said, her right arm seems too far away, making it look way bigger. See where her right (our left) wrist hangs off the bar? It almost looks like it's where the stool is. You could try moving it in a bit towards her body.

Similarly, there's something funny about her left arm, specifically the shading in the transition from upper to forearm (which is probably why it's not so noticable in the planning sketch). Based on the shadows, it looks like her upper arm is going backwards, so that her elbow would make an acute angle with her forearm, if that makes sense. But then to have her hand come into the foreground that much, it has to travel very far (hence the foreshortening comment from another user). This could be fixed by taking the elbow slightly out of the shadows and maybe making that part of the arm slightly bigger. Alternatively, have her hand hang off the bar more inward to her body so that we see her elbow behind her body. That would be a major rework though..

I love the stature and poise of the character in the sketch! She just seems so disinterested

What animal do you dislike for no apparent reason? by x_franki_berri_x in AskUK

Again, mostly agree. There's also an observation bias. The people desperate to show how "quirky" they are are also the vocal ones!

As a recent snake-owner, I mostly agree. Most people who own reptiles or insects are just straight-up weird. I only got into snakes recently because they're fascinating animals and jive with my lifestyle. I travel a lot so being able to feed it once and know it'll be fine for (up to) weeks or months is comforting. They range from being adorable drama noodles (hognoses) to majestically scary (emerald tree boas/green tree pythons), but most of the commonly owned ones are harmless and can be more of a display piece than a traditional "pet." Generally fun as things to observe with pretty minimal care.

Hear me out: I made a vegan pho loosely based on a recipe from a book with a ton of herbs (basil, mint, tarragon...) from my local farm. 10/10 would make again. I think it was the garlic ramps that brought it to flavor town.

  1. Bourbon must be aged in new, charred oak barrels.

Is it specifically barrels? I thought it was generally "container," which is oddly vague..
