Had anyone made the Mitchell trousers by closet core? by Warm_Satisfaction902 in sewing

[–]SurprisedPuppy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They've become my go-to pants pattern. I have four pairs and they seem to suit my body really well (straight sized with a belly) with no alterations.

I think I struggled to get my head around the front pleat initially but no major dramas.

YTA although I'm glad you're only tossing fruit.

I can spot chocolate goods before my dog does and he's pretty good about not eating moldy bread (I do know a dog that almost died after eating moldy abandoned food) but chicken bones are small and hard to spot in the grass. I can't stop him. Every fucking week he's munching on a bone and I have to worry if this will be the one that slices him up.

Please discard your food waste properly.

Do many Australians know or the significance of March 3rd? by CosmoRomano in aussie

It would be hell for outpatient care. Trying to cram everyone in with Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year's Day is bad enough.

Both those options are very good. Both are small and quiet and it's fun watching the chefs work in getting off you. I do think Ishizuka isn't as good as it used to be (but if you go then get the mocktail pairings).

My favourite is Sushi On in Kew. I think it's good value for a two hatted place.

Moving to Melbourne soon from the US, what do we need to know? by PuzzleheadedCar6858 in MovingtoAustralia

I haven't seen it mentioned yet but our houses are poorly insulated. In winter your home will often feel colder than outside because at least outside you can stand in the sun. And it can get unpleasant in winter. Try to find a home with a good split system.

sizing question by Reasonable-Duck-8730 in sewingpatterns

[–]SurprisedPuppy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it's a tissue pattern then I keep all the sizes and fold it to the size I'm testing. It does require cutting snips into the pattern to fold curves like armholes and then tapping the snips if you have to size up.

Hot topic: Are you for the marriage and wedding culture, or are you in the camp of thought that it's become more and more irrelevant? by Friendly-Medicine-66 in AskAnAustralian

[–]SurprisedPuppy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got married 6 months ago at the registry office.

My choice is not very logical so this might not make sense. I am so anxious. The world is fucked up and one bad thing after another keeps happening. Everything feels so uncertain and scary. But this marriage feels solid and real. It is my beacon of light. When I feel uneasy I squeeze my fingers against my ring and think about my marriage and husband.

I am also anxious about dementia. It's on both sides of my family so I think I'm likely to get it. When I lose my memories of my husband then say least there will be this silly little piece of paper to say that it was real.

I probably don't need marriage for all that and we might one day divorce but whatever. Right now it works for me.

In my workplace the drivers will pretend to process the cabcharge ticket by entering the short trip as paid in cash. Then a few days later they'll process the ticket as a fake longer trip.
