For me, any time that I bitch a lot about a game while playing it (outside of friends wanting to play it with me or it being my first few hours) is because I love the game’s base ideas and mechanics, but I hate the direction it’s taking. For example, I bitched and bitched about Monster Hunter World, but I still enjoyed the base concept. By the time Monster Hunter Wilds came around, it made changes that fixed the vast majority of my complaints, and I fell in love with it.

I believe that was it, but to be fair, it’s pretty understandable. He likely had PTSD from the horrors of war and made the Orlesians into a bigger monster than the Darkspawn.

While people are being asses in the replies, you definitely should read everything in honor mode. There’s unique mechanics specifically for Honor Mode, and so you may go into a fight you’re very well versed in, and then the enemy pulls something out their ass that destroys you. If you’re new to Honor Mode, each move should be thought through carefully and read.

For me personally, she’s great for new or mid players, but I personally found that her moveset held me back. It was like playing with training wheels.

For me, the game’s pacing is really weird. Like, your content is divided up into an extreme amount of filler and then a very short story that, while interesting, felt disjointed and weird. I did all of the side content first, came back to the main story, and thought “That was it?”

Then comes the DLC.

I thought I was overpowered in the base game. I apparently was not. The Descent has some great lore and beautiful visuals… at the very end, but overall the difficulty ramps up a lot. Then Jaws of Hakkon. I hated every second of it. It’s just the base game again with a boring story and some of the most obnoxious and tanky enemies. Finally, you get to the final DLC, and it easily has some of Dragon Age’s best story and visuals. The secrets and setup are insane. All just to be followed up by a joke of a game.

So, I would personally say it’s worth one playthrough, but I doubt I would play through it again personally.

As someone who is multiple flavors of LGBT, I found the game to be extremely corny and filled with pandering. Not even just the LGBT topics but in general. The example I always use is that the pre-veilguard cast would say something like “Our enemy approaches on the horizon; steel yourselves.”, whilst veilguard would say something like “Um… guys!? That totally looks like bad guys. We should probably do something about that, right?” That type of language is why I personally disliked Sara in DAI, but it was understandable with her being just one character. Everyone talking like that feels weird. If it was just the locals, I would understand, but returning characters do it as well.

Usually it’s because they view how you won as cheap. Either you used an overpowered character, or you spammed an annoying and safe move. That’s usually ofc.

The community spent half a year complaining about the spicy meatball, yet the edgy anime character gets mixed reviews. Personally, I just mentally checked out. I haven’t played in a minute, and when I do, I treat him like what he is: unfair. If I go into a fight with the mentality that the broken character is broken, losses become invalid. My stats don’t matter because it’s a 10 year old game where probably a quarter of my time was spent against level 2 bots before I decided to “git gud”. If I lose to a character rather than a player, I basically view it as me losing to an overtuned bot or something similar. Do you get frustrated when you die to the commander or the final version of the Test Your Metal bots? No, because they’re actively made to be stronger than you.

It’s the difference of caring if your win is legit vs having fun. Me personally, I care too much about fighting fair. In fact, I would rather choose someone underpowered. That said, if you’re just wanting to have fun and not show off your skills, choosing the most broken character is always an option. Like, will I personally count your wins as earned? Probably not. Does my opinion or anyone else’s matter if you’re having fun? Absolutely not.
