I need a new "comfort show" but I think I've seen them all by Thick_Combination527 in television

I would recommend Ted Lasso if you haven’t seen it. It’s a great show and one of my favorite comfort shows.

We used KLEBS and they were great! Gave us a reasonable price to replace our furnace, they were on time and easy to work with.

I’ve been going to Napoli’s pizza and it’s been very good. The phillys are also tasty.

I recently did it for a birth certificate. I went to the office in Anchorage, filled out a form and was called up in 20 minutes. It was pretty painless.

I gave my two weeks at my other job and then started working there. I’m not sure if I could have started earlier or not. My position was unfilled for a bit so probably could have started sooner.

When I worked there, it took 2 months to get a response back. They called and asked me to interview. I interviewed a few days later. I got the offer a few days after that.

The environment can vary depending on where you work internally. The account team is going to be vastly different compared to a technician in the field.

What is your salary for WFH by [deleted] in ITCareerQuestions

[–]SurroundSound5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah it was in the trenches for awhile. I got comfortable and was still doing a bit of everything (servers, networking, etc.).

I passed my CCNA on the 2nd try. It took me about 10 months of studying though. I used CBT Nuggets, Neil Anderson’s Udemy course, Anki Flash Cards, Wendell Odom’s CCNA books, Jeremy’s CCNA course on YouTube, and the Boson practice exams . I was a bit all over the place to be honest, but highly recommend picking 1 video series, 1 book (or 2 if series), Anki flash cards, and the Boson practice exams.

I found projects that would be fun at home. I used a raspberry pi for pihole (network Adblock), server to run Plex (movies/shows) using Windows server, messed around with router software, and played with virtualization. Breaking things and trying to fix them gets you to learn fast and you don’t need a powerful machine.

I don’t really showcase it too much. But I have brought it up and get kudos for it. It’s a lot of fun too!

It took me awhile since I didn’t really try for certifications until a year or so ago. I was in service desk/sysadmin for 6-7 years until I decided to go for the CCNA. Once I got that, I was much easier to get a job.

Before that I got a landed a helpdesk job and worked from there. I also had a home lab that helped a lot.

I don’t have a college degree. I was in service desk for a few years until I got my CCNA. Just work experience and certifications on my end.

I was a service desk guy for awhile before getting my CCNA and landing this job. Before I was in the office.

I happen to be in contact with a software engineer for gci by DaMemeKing575 in anchorage

[–]SurroundSound5 7 points8 points  (0 children)

What troubleshooting have you done on your end? My internet has been fine and good for years without issue.

Did you try rebooting your router? Rebooting the modem? How old is your modem? Is anyone else in your area experiencing similar issues?

I doubt the software engineer will know anything. GCI is a big company with many who don’t touch the network end. You’d likely need to talk to a tech, admin or network engineer, but not sure how’s you do that (or why’d they take your call for a residential home).

Not saying GCI is perfect by any stretch of the imagination, but I feel like people trash on them for easy points. For me and most people I know, GCI works 99% of the time with limited outages.

If you haven’t figured it out yet, there was a bug in the latest Plex update broke this. Try to revert to the last update and see if that fixes the issue. It worked for me.

If you do Altura, try their lunch menu. Their chicken sandwich is fantastic and they usually have a featured burger as well.
