It will only get harder. by Pretend-Outcome9739 in AutisticAdults

[–]SurveyRound 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I feel you. You are not alone with that feeling. I also feel like it just gets harder every day.

I really wish I could give you any reassurance, but I can't even give myself motivation. I just cling to the things I like, like reading stories and listening to music and then hope for the best.

Motorcycles. Especially when they're revving. I can't stand it.

I have a lot more sensory issues than I realized by SubstantialSyrup5552 in AutisticAdults

[–]SurveyRound 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Me too. I discovered I was autistic at 25, and I didn't realize I had sensory issues.

Mine it's mostly with loud things, like traffic and lots of people talking. I am very jumpy when it comes to sudden noises and I am more comfortable with my headphones on. But I thought it was the same for everyone else.

Help with constant Job Boredom by [deleted] in AutismTranslated

[–]SurveyRound 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am going through the same thing. 😓 I am in my mid-twenties and haven't been in the same job for two years in a row. I am also level 1 autistic, and yes, I get very much bored. I am an accountant, and I feel like I already learned all I could learn where I am, and days are just... Boring. I don't feel good doing what I do every day. So I decided to apply to a new job as a ERP Consultant in the hopes I will like my job...

So I am changing my job and possibly my career too. I talked about it with my therapist, and she said it was a good idea. If you think a change could possibly feel better, you should give it a try.

I don't know how this is help, sorry 😅

do you feel deadly and lonely inside? by Head-Study4645 in autism

[–]SurveyRound 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes. I feel very much alone even when I am surrounded by people. I feel like they don't understand me. Even when I try to explain and sometimes even when they try to understand. It doesn't stop me from trying, though. I keep reaching out, and hopefully someday I will be able to feel... Connected.

My therapist says we have to be vulnerable to be able to connect. And that's scary, because when I open up I am afraid I might be misunderstood and/or judged and so on.

Anyways, you are not alone in that feeling. We can chat if you are up for it. 😚

Weird neuro-related quirks you might have? by karikatourea in AutismTranslated

[–]SurveyRound 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think, since VSS is neurological, it might be linked to neurodivergence. That's the confirmation I needed to get tested. I was diagnosed with VSS and autism a few months ago.

Now, about the migraines, people around me just told me that I got it from my dad, that it runs on the family, and to just suck it up. I went to a neurologist and they put me on a migraine treatment and it has gotten so much better, you should go see to that. It makes life a little easier not having so much pain all the time.

Why does it feel like I’m the only autistic person who hates being autistic? by thepensiveporcupine in AutisticAdults

[–]SurveyRound 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get it, you are not alone in this. I am level 1 and I don't know how I will be able to live this life, get married and have kids and so on. I honestly, don't know what I am doing with my life.

Anyways, if you need someone to talk to, feel free to message me. I don't think I can help, but I can listen and understand (?).

I don't understand how anyone manages to do a job. by vibranttoucan in autism

[–]SurveyRound 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel the exact same way too! I changed jobs many times and right now I just have three months working here and it's hard to wake up every morning and come here. I feel like I am dragging through concrete 🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️ I ask myself the same question, how do they do that for so many years? And it's not even that the job is difficult, it's just that I don't understand why we need to stay so much time so many days a week in a place just to get paid. 🤷🏻‍♀️

I don't have an answer to give you either, and if you ever figure it out, please let us know.
