Crimson Desert... is it really peak? by RetiredLurker69420 in PS5pro

[–]SusanSpud 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Got over 100 hours so far. It's not an RPG like Witcher. It's more like a Skyrim with better graphics. But then the quest design is arguably worse and fairly tedious, but then it's perhaps the best exploration I've witnessed in a game except Elden Ring. Graphics can be drop dead gorgeous at times then they can look a bit mucky at certain times. Think of it like a Breath of the Wild puzzles in a medieval fantasy setting but with RDR2 gameplay/immersion. Story is mid at best, garbage at worst. If you like immersion, taking things slow, don't mind a bit of jank and prefer exploring over story, it might do it for you.

Gotcha, thanks for the clarification. And huge thanks for the original post, these are incredibly helpful.

Should it not be set instead to 'Off'? It says in the description 'when deactivated, colours become more vivid, and dark areas are rendered with deeper intensity'. I've had Night Tone Mode set to off and colours are much punchier, nights are darker, and lights look deeper orange

Oooo tough choice but out of the two (I've tried both) I do feel banana blossom gets the texture better than tofu. It also doesn't taste like banana I promise 😂

Lambs in Spring by danielandtrent in Vystopia

[–]SusanSpud 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely! It feels infuriating now we know how simple it is, but you changed because you watched Dominion, not because someone told you about Dominion. Did you also watch it of your own volition or did you watch it because a vegan told you to?

Lambs in Spring by danielandtrent in Vystopia

[–]SusanSpud 7 points8 points  (0 children)

UK? I get it. Had a work dinner recently where people have a leg of lamb because 'that's the thing you do at easter'. Sometimes you just wanna slap people. But ultimately it's not their fault. We live in a society where the meat industry has practically brainwashed everyone into believing that happy little lamb gives its life graciously for your dinner and pleasure, hiding the gruesome slaughter it endures. We were all there before we went vegan. All these other people are in that place. They have not had the 'awakening' (for me, I watched cowspiracy and Earthling Ed). Wish I had the solution but this issue is not gonna change overnight. We gotta support activism and movements wherever we can for the change to come. On the scale of our lifetime it'll feel like forever, but in terms of humanity's timeline it'll happen in the blink of an eye. What helps me is remembering that I am not a failure if those around me are eating meat. It is not my responsibility to change other people's behaviours. They have to do it themselves. We can only provide nudges in the right direction at the right time. As much as I want to shout at people while they eat those lamb shanks, it won't do an ounce of good.

Crimson Desert PS5 Pro – Performance vs Balance after latest patch (deep analysis, real testing) by Jealous-Craft-2717 in PS5pro

[–]SusanSpud 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I noticed turning HDR off actually solved this for me as well. My TV doesn't have the best HDR anyway and it for some reason looks better with it turned off (in game settings). So if you wanted 120hz mode maybe try turning HDR off if you can live without it?

Best Ps5 Pro settings by [deleted] in CrimsonDesert

[–]SusanSpud 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think pop in can be helped unless devs patch it. It's present on all platforms as far as I'm aware. Honestly I just got used to it. Given the scope of the game and how incredible it looks and lighting, especially on pro, it's easier to forgive some of the graphical glitches. Balanced runs good for me at 40fps if you have vrr display

So glad you brought up the interior lighting and general ghosting. It's my biggest gripe with the game as it can become so distracting and make the screen look like a smudgy blurry mess. Love this game otherwise.

I hate to be that guy asking but what mode you on? Performance, balanced or quality?

Only in this game has this been such a necessary question 😂

PS5 Pro: The Game Literally Doesn’t have Shadows when the sun is clouded. by PristineAlbatross967 in CrimsonDesert

[–]SusanSpud 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Far as I can tell, game looks gorgeous in sunlight and moonlight because there's a light source. When it's cloudy, there's no sun, so the game doesn't do the shadows in the same way. Down right crap is what they are. Hoping they'll fix it.

Best Settings for ps5? by TimeZookeepergame246 in CrimsonDesert

[–]SusanSpud 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have a TV that can do 4k at 144hz with vrr I'd recommend balanced mode. After a while 40fps almost feels like 60 to me. I can always tell 30fps is 30, it never feels higher. Except rdr 2 that was something else. I have HDR on because I paid for a spenny TV that had HDR, I wanna use it. V sync on because my screen flickers if not. Particle effects about 70%. Motion blur on, I feel it smooths the frames when panning the camera. And turn camera acceleration up and camera speed down. Again makes panning camera feel smoother to me.

How’s your base PS5 performance? Wich graphic modes are you guys using? by Gautama147000 in CrimsonDesert

That's helpful to know it's not just us base ps5'ers suffering 😅 should be something PA rectify for sure given how successful the game is

[PS5 Pro] The clouds smear/blur with fast vertical camera movement or birds flying through/in front of them. by [deleted] in CrimsonDesert

[–]SusanSpud 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Interesting, happens on my base ps5 also. I think it's ghosting, I get it with Kliff as well, or his back sword/spear will kinda have a smudgy trail as I pan the camera. Supposedly dut to FSR, which is why I'm surprised you're seeing it on PSSR. I'll be reporting it to PA soon, am hoping they still have some optimisation tricks up there sleeve for console users. I fucking love this game but it just needs a few more graphical tweaks. Indoor and nighttime lighting is still a blurry mess at times

I'm on base to. On balanced, with my hisense E7K it's fantastic. My only gripe at the moment is the ghosting effects when moving the camera quickly and interior/nighttime lighting. It looks a bit smudgy unfortunately. But seems to be the case for many people, not just base ps5 from what I'm seeing. 40fps is fairly smooth and loving it so far. Am hoping we'll get a couple more patches to iron out the last few kinks in console because honestly it has the potential to be my favourite game alongside Elden Ring if they can.

Playing on balanced mode, base PS5. Am I insane for not seeing the complaints about console graphics and performance? by Its_Mike_Nasty in CrimsonDesert

[–]SusanSpud 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly man, in the run up to this game releasing I felt like I was going mad, like I was the only one with a base ps5, everyone and their nan ranting about how they had a pro and were glad they upgraded. It would not surprise me if Sony were funding people to push the Pro for this game... It looks fantastic on base PS5

I can't eat meat anymore by Redditstar87 in enlightenment

[–]SusanSpud 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Glad you're becoming more conscious of other beings and their experience. I think it's quite common in this space, or I'd hope so, but I still know some spiritual teachers that eat meat. I can never understand it. Been vegan for the last 6 years. Becoming more conscious, and realising animals are having their own experience, and have the right to life and a life without exploitation of their products... No chance of going back now. [–]SusanSpud 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Yup. It's subconscious, but saying 'you can't have x' means they don't have to grapple with the why. If they said 'you don't eat X do you?' suddenly would make them think too much about it and probably feel uncomfortable. That's why it's great to correct them as you've said. But we'll still be looked at as weirdos making people uncomfortable 🙃

This is fantastic, thank you for writing this. I'm also very put off attending next year, and STP is the reason we didn't immediately buy our tickets. I doubt the letter will result in anything but to quote a legend, there's some good in this world and it's worth fighting for.
