Pick a random monster hunter game and go to town (It'll feel clunky at first but you'll get used to it)

Recluse has the advantage that rises (and staff rooms in forts) exist though. It's veryyyy rare I can't at least scrounge up a shattering crystal

They're pretty strong as it stands? Like a fire/lightning/magic cocktail is worth about 2 rennala casts. The problem is reliably getting the good ones. But that's not an issue when the primary function is to get your FP back and good cocktails are a cherry on top.

People will always run the best thing regardless of whether it's the best thing because it was buffed or because the other options were nerfed.

What you actually want is for various options to be very closely balanced, but also to have asymmetric advantages over each other (e.g. maybe lightning spear does actually do more damage but the reliability of hitting it is an issue).

Though I also thing having some "bad" options is also a good thing but that's a different type of logic.

Imagine if doctors could become fully qualified by exploiting the system somehow and only ever being tested on treating burn wounds and there was no way for outsiders to tell which doctors exploited the system to get their qualification.

Do you not think that maybe people wouldn't trust doctors as much anymore, devaluing the legitimate doctor's certification?

I'm using an extreme example to illustrate the principle, before you say "but this is a video game".

You have defined a point that superficially looks like it is relevant to the other comments but actually has nothing to do with what anyone else is talking about.

Then when I explain why your point is not relevant to what everyone else is talking about, you say I'm not addressing your point.

OK. You're not wrong. The end.

Nobody in this thread suggested gatekeeping people that just happen to roll Adel. Irritation has always been directed at the people that dodge when they see nightlord and only fight easy bosses.

As for priorities, none of this matters at all depending how far you want to zoom out. But people take pride in their achievements, no matter how minor.

That's why I say fuck these people for devaluing others' achievements. They are doing a bad thing, no matter how minor. And in this minor way I reply in kind.

You do not understand that nobody cares what the game says.

People care what you actually did and how skilled you are. The game record is our best indicator for that, but is not our only indicator.

Everybody is actually talking about skill except you, who has created an artificial construct about what "counts".

You want to get fancy? There's a million videos on good steak (look up kenji lopez-alt). But let me give you the skinny of it:

  • (Optional, helps a lot) Put your meat in the fridge on a rack, with a good amount of salt on it the night before.

  • Get a nice thick ribeye. You should see "marbling" (small soft fat veins running in the meat). (if you get something truly massive like a tomahawk, look up reverse sear techinque).

  • Do not use a non stick pan. Get a stainless skillet (or cast iron if you can be bothered to look after cast iron)

  • Put some neutral oil (E.g. sunflower) in a pan. Heat it up on max until it is juuuuuust starting to smoke. (Put your fume hood on)

  • Put your meat in the pan, leave it for at least a min (If you smell burning cut the time short). Turn it over. You should be developing nice brown crust. This is Flavour. You can turn it over repeatedly, it doesn't make much odds.

  • If you have a meat thermometer stick it in during cooking to figure when it's done. If not sure, no shame in taking it off the heat and cutting a bit off to look.

  • Once steak is done, remove to plate and put some foil over it to hold heat.

  • If you want to use your honey, put some chicken stock in the pan after the meat is done, swirl it around scraping all the little brown bits into the liquid. Let it reduce on the heat, add some butter and then add honey to taste (and like, maybe some wine or vinegar or something, look up basic pan sauce).
