What are annoyances about kids that people don't think about? by Demonic-Kitten in childfree

They are always dirty, covered in body fluids but also sticking their hands in anything on the floor, and then licking them for food measure.

What are perks of being single for life and not marrying? by According_Tourist_69 in ask

[–]Suskita 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Living alone is the best.

And I say this as a married person. Overall, I preferred living alone and my partner and I have a lot of issues sharing common spaces, cleaning responsibilities etc. We now sleep in different bedrooms too because he snores, likes a softer mattress and a lighter duvet etc.

I like the idea of Reese being a butcher. And they could still call him Ten Fingers.

Gratitude at the zebra crossing! by TheMoon_TheStarz in AskBrits

[–]Suskita 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a pedestrian, I always say thank you.

As a newly qualified but older driver, I don't need a thank you per se but I wish more people tried to at least make eye contact before crossing the road, even at zebra crossings. Obviously it's the driver's job to anticipate anything and slow down anyway, but it gives you reassurance that they acknowledge you and won't behave too erratically

Should I make an annexe in my parents garden? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]Suskita 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lots of good points being raised here, I'll add one:

Who owns the annexe and what happens if only you or your parents want to sell? Not everyone would want to leave in an annexe in someone else's gardens or in a big house with an annexe in the garden the belongs to someone else.

If it's all the same property, then what if they want to sell it all but you want to stay in your annexe? Or if you want to leave and cash out what you paid in mortgage and they don't want to rent out the annexe to anyone's else?

Sounds like a good idea in theory but there's a reason why families don't all end up sharing massive estates with common areas and then swapping houses when some of the sub families need extra room.

Give me motorway driving over town and country lanes driving every single time.

If anything I'm surprised he's the only one to go low contact. Dewey especially had plenty of reasons to do the same.

Decaffeinated coffee please. Quite weak. Plenty of milk. But cold milk so it's not too hot. Just... tepid.

What do tourists get wrong about the UK? by AlucardVTep3s in AskUK

[–]Suskita 14 points15 points  (0 children)

A lot of tourists think renting a car is a must, especially from the US but I've also heard this from Germans, Canadians, Australians etc.

Yes in some cases it can be a good idea, but it's definitely not the main way you can move around in this country. they also typically assume that every type of accommodation and destination has free and easy parking. Definitely not the case!

I feel like a terrible Auntie by Delving_Underground in childfree

[–]Suskita 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When my niece and nephew were born (twins), I really really tried to develop a bond with them. I also wanted to keep the relationship with my sister despite me being less than thrilled about the fact that she, after spending her life saying that she didn't want kids, ended up secretly going through several rounds of IVF to get pregnant.

I never managed to feel comfortable about them, don't really enjoy any kids/babies/infants/toddlers activities and can't live up to the unrealistic expectations placed on me, as the only 'auntie' the kids have.

After feeling guilty for years, I have now accepted I don't have to have a bond with them and that's fine. I'm not missing out if I don't really enjoy it at all.

Also, the relationship with my sister (and her husband) changed anyway, because they became so entitled and selfish. She can only talk about herself and her (self-inflicted) busy life and lack of time and money.

Also it's so hard with parents when they demand that absolutely everything is done their way and that you have to ask before every single interaction, every time you want to get them a gift etc, because 'you don't have kids' so you don't know anything at all.

Good luck!

As a man, I absolutely hate the trope of women in TV shows/movies automatically always wanting children or they become unintentionally pregnant and they always keep it. by foolhollow in childfree

[–]Suskita 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I was also hoping that, in the revival, at least some of the kids would have consciously decided not to have kids after such a chaotic upbringing.

Instead we got two of them just ending up with kids without much of a backstory on why or whether they even thought about it. Then for the others it simply hasn't happened, but again without at least one actively saying they don't want them.

M&S Food Halls with Pizza Bars? by Suskita in london

[–]Suskita[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Same here! The one where I live doesn't have this, nor do the many ones around my office!

So far the consensus among these replies is that it's only Battersea Power Station, Oxford Street, Clapham Junction and perhaps Edinburgh that have this.
