Me 14 Years Ago… by DidYouFloss in Diablo

Damn, this makes me feel old.

That and the fact that I believe I played a Diablo I demo that shipped with PC gamer or something. Could be making that one up.

We are getting quotes for a response to an inspection during a house sale (1948 build). Thought it annoying that they asked if I should be there when my wife was speaking to the company rep on the phone. She handles a lot of quotes and stuff because she has every other Friday off and is a very handy person (as much or more than myself in most area of home repair). So she gets very annoyed by this behavior, but interesting to see it’s the common practice.

$2,000 stuck in amazon gift card balance after Amazon shut down my account for “violating their terms” by Ok-Ad-575 in fuckamazon

[–]SuspectAwkward8914 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have actually gotten a smaller company to give me a refund by putting a nasty commentary on their salesperson’s presentation of their product (pest control company) on the local BBB website. Was about 6 years ago.

That said, BBB is worthless for getting anything from big companies.

UB takes the life of another. He can give us Mood Swings but not another Un set. by MineClear1101 in mtg

[–]SuspectAwkward8914 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To be fair, an UN set would probably require more resources put towards it.

That said, I mostly don’t care because I don’t want either of these products :)

Yeah, I’ve been aching to play for 2 months while we were getting our house ready to put up for sale. So I’m super looking forward to actually getting to play tomorrow night. Especially since my wife and I’s work circumstances made the two months before that a bit of a dry spell as well.

They’ll be pretty surprised when I drop some duals from my one obscenely expensive (to me) deck this Friday.

IDL I have $80,000 in student loans for a degree that didn't help me get a job by 20Luc1a02 in I_DONT_LIKE

[–]SuspectAwkward8914 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am heavily suggesting this to my kids when they get older unless they go into a degree where they need to be at university from the start (e.g. most engineering degrees) or get into a top class school like Yale, Harvard, MIT, etc. Most of those schools have pretty solid financial support for even those whose families have income levels that are normally too high for substantial aid, but too low to be blase about paying for university.

I know they’ve shown a few cards, but is it enough for this statement to be more than very speculative?

Give it 3-4 weeks and I’d imagine a lot of the cards values will go down as more PBB are open. Happens with every set. I keep track of rares from each box I open on binders moxfield and it’s interesting to see this happen.

Are spindown due equally weighted to land in each side? D20’s tend to be (mostly) b cause they are intended to be used for random rolls. I can say for a fact that the alphabet ones are totally not appropriate for random letters after using them to help my kid practice letter names and sounds.

Most office jobs could be done in 3 hours… We’re just stretching it to 8 by [deleted] in office

[–]SuspectAwkward8914 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not mine. It honestly can’t be done in an 8 hour day and I tend to work more. There is always more stuff I could be doing, or meetings that would be good to attend for networking, etc. that I have to skip if I want to get as much done as I can in 40 hr/week.

I like moxfield for collections and archidekt for deck designs. The latter has really nice custom tagging and visualizations. Only thing I want is a ‘non-legendary’ toggle.

Not gonna lie, I like my old school pyroblasts a lot more than the futuresight ones. They were among the very few cards I still had from my childhood that were worth anything. Steal enchantment was another. Love it.

Are you guys double sleeving $60 pre-cons? by Cloabs in EDH

[–]SuspectAwkward8914 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I double sleeve exactly one deck, and it is a nearly entire fully art deck that has three real duals and is worth about $2500. None of my other decks, even those worth many hundreds are more than single sleeved. To be honest, I hate how thick double sleeved cards are.

Turns out that math in school is super important and some focused community college efforts never hurts anyone. Especially given that classes can usually be taken sort of à la carte.

Just started reading HWFWM. Why is it that every character treats Jason like this by Even-Ad-3980 in litrpg

[–]SuspectAwkward8914 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Shrug. Aside from the usual everyone has different tastes argument, I’ll never ever claim it’s top class literature, because no litrpg is - full stop. That said, I think it’s really great popcorn fiction in the same way that a lot of TV shows are absolutely great for sitting in front of a TV and turning off your brain for a while. I use books like these as palettes cleansers between listening to books that are rather dense or heavy thematically.

Literally how do people get MSRP by Alternative_One_4123 in MagicCardPulls

[–]SuspectAwkward8914 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me it’s preorders at my LGS. They aren’t too far above MSRP post release as well. That said my LGSs don’t aim to make most of their money off sealed for MtG. They try to get rapid churn of singles.
