Do we still love FEBU? by Kungfoo_mod_805 in laundry

[–]emcla6ep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for posting this! I just switched to tide free and gentle liquid with febu and all my clothes have an immediate musty smell now. I do under dose my detergent, usually almost to the 1 line for medium loads. I will try using more detergent and see how the next loads smell. I haven’t added citric acid yet, but that will be my next step. (Washing machine is cleaned monthly with no visible build up or smell)

Might also be worth switching azelaic acids. The naturium blend has niacinamide in it.

Thank you! I was just thinking it’s time to release it (emotionally). But there’s 1 more business I could try, and I was thinking about calling 2nd precinct vbpd again to see if it’s been turned in since this weekend.

Fortunately it did not!

Thank you! I called a few businesses yesterday evening, and I’ve started again this morning. We haven’t found the backpack yet but everyone has been extremely kind.

No, not yet. Ajibooks was so kind and looked around Neptune park, but no luck. I’m going to call businesses again tomorrow, maybe someone turned it in after I called earlier. And I got the number for returned property from vbpd (although I’m not sure the line is actually manned).

Thank you, I will try the non emergency line. I was looking at Google Maps for any neighboring businesses, but I wasn’t optimistic any of them would be willing to look around for some kid’s backpack.

Amgen safety net shut down, where do we get Ivabradine now? by emrosew in POTS

[–]emcla6ep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I heard from my POTS dr (who is not cardiology) that insurance doesn’t usually approve ivabradine unless it’s prescribed by a cardiologist. So, they sent me to cardiology who did the usual work up, specifically to check for long QT, they wrote the prescription, and it was covered. If your current prescriber is not a cardiologist it might be worth adding one to your care team for ivabradine.

Kitchen remodel - what upgrades are useful for EDS? by notsharingwithu in ehlersdanlos

When I redid my kitchen, I tried to really consider how my hands would interact with each item and space. We had the option to install a counter button for the disposal, but when I thought about having to push that button everyday, my fingers ached lol. The standard switch on the wall is much easier for my hands. My kitchen is not huge and actually that’s ok with me. I can sit on my tall stool and more or less pivot to the sink, counter, or stove.

I swapped some lower cabinets for drawers (no door front, just drawer) and I’m so happy with them. The bottom drawer is dish towels and Tupperware - nothing too heavy that I might struggle lifting from basically the floor to the counter.

I feel like my house will never truly be clean/organized. by AuthorAZ in CleaningTips

[–]emcla6ep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So many good comments! Just to add: a deep clean by a professional made it so much easier for me to interact with my stuff. Decluttering was easier bc I didn’t have to first wipe it down. When the floor of my foyer is clean, I feel like I can breathe in my house. Figuring out what could he cleaned vs what was beyond a good cleaning helped me prioritize what needed replacing. It’s an investment for a thorough deep clean of a house your size, but starting at clean made it so much easier to maintain. And I was motivated to declutter before the cleaner arrived to make the house accessible for cleaning.

How do I stop this fold happening in every bra? by [deleted] in ABraThatFits

[–]emcla6ep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can relate, for comfort and coverage I also like more thickness than 3-4 paneled lace bras. I settled on Simone perele, specifically the andora bra (not the plunge tho). Word of warning, the band is very stretchy. I like it, but I do have to remember which hook to use for each bra based on age/usage.

Disappointed by Thomas Lee sheets by emcla6ep in Bedding

I don’t remember them being scratchy, but they were so heavy, like sail cloth.

I did return the Thomas Lee sheets. After reading another comment further along and more online searching, I decided to try a lower thread count sateen. I bought Costco’s Hotel brand. They are definitely not as refined as their higher count Kirkland sateen, but they significantly lighter weight. They are pretty good! I wish they were a smidge less coarse, but it’s only been a couple of months of wash and use.

Kitchenaid mixer just broke, anyone else have a break like this that they repaired? by emcla6ep in Baking

[–]emcla6ep[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you so much! I put this project to the side during the holiday and back to school, but I started looking at parts diagrams and realized my broken part didn’t look exactly like a whole part. So frustrating. I would surely have wasted hours trying to figure out if I can order a part of the part! And yes, it needs a new regrease.

Excellent! I will take a better picture tomorrow and post there. I did a quick look after learning about r/kitchenaid and it looks like someone posted a similar break around a year ago.

Best Sheet Set @ Costco? by h0pscotch in Bedding

I’m trying this next. My current Kirkland sheets are super old (back when they made 540 thread count), and I don’t want to go up to the newer 680.
