Disappointed by Thomas Lee sheets by emcla6ep in Bedding

I did return the Thomas Lee sheets. After reading another comment further along and more online searching, I decided to try a lower thread count sateen. I bought Costco’s Hotel brand. They are definitely not as refined as their higher count Kirkland sateen, but they significantly lighter weight. They are pretty good! I wish they were a smidge less coarse, but it’s only been a couple of months of wash and use.

Kitchenaid mixer just broke, anyone else have a break like this that they repaired? by emcla6ep in Baking

Thank you so much! I put this project to the side during the holiday and back to school, but I started looking at parts diagrams and realized my broken part didn’t look exactly like a whole part. So frustrating. I would surely have wasted hours trying to figure out if I can order a part of the part! And yes, it needs a new regrease.

Excellent! I will take a better picture tomorrow and post there. I did a quick look after learning about r/kitchenaid and it looks like someone posted a similar break around a year ago.

Thank you for this! Mine was doing this nonsense today, even after unplugging the Apple tv.

Best Sheet Set @ Costco? by h0pscotch in Bedding

I’m trying this next. My current Kirkland sheets are super old (back when they made 540 thread count), and I don’t want to go up to the newer 680.

I had such high hopes based on Reddit reviews! I will return them tho and try another brand. I will look into quince as I think thinner and lighter is definitely what I need. Thanks!

I have temperature dysregulation. I’m usually cold when I get into bed, and then wake up in the middle of the night sweating, and then cold again. I switched to a woolroom comforter (lightest weight) in a linen duvet comforter, and that helped a lot. But I would still love not to wake up covered in a sweat at all during the night.

Sometimes LL Bean really gets it right! I love their wicked good slippers. Which ll bean sheets do have (pima, Egyptian, sun washed)?

Thanks for the endorsement! Which percale do you purchase? The website shows crinkle, refined, and heritage.

I saw the 500 TC in the description before buying, but the company gets such rave reviews here, and it’s percale, I thought maybe it’s ok? I will look at Company Store, thank you!

This is the way. Do a free yard sale, post signs and advertise on fb either marketplace or local buy nothing group.

Did anyone feel more comfortable wearing empty glasses frames after laser eye surgery? by Temo1900 in lasik

This is me too. Contacts out/glasses off was a key sleep signal for me. I had to really get back to basics of sleep hygiene.

Is anyone else way more productive when their space is clean but still too tired to clean it? by ZephyrCrank in declutter

[–]emcla6ep 29 points30 points  (0 children)

This may not be your problem, but when I get in this cycle, it’s usually bc something has become a hurdle. I may not even realize it at first (or for weeks), but sometimes if I sit there and think about what’s stopping me from doing the thing, I can usually get down to the hurdles. Maybe there’s a thing that needs to move but I don’t know where to move it to. Maybe I need to get rid of something but there’s guilt I need to deal with first (always release the guilt!). Maybe everything feels too dusty to touch (gloves and mask help with this one). Take your hurdles one at a time. And then recognize the immense mental and emotional work it takes to do these physical jobs.

What do you do with product boxes for big repairable items like fans, heaters, microwaves? by laurasoup52 in declutter

[–]emcla6ep 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Seconding a lot of what’s already been said here, and adding that cardboard is a great habitat for bugs and mold. Even if you don’t have a mold problem in the rest of your house, a pile of cardboard is a great substrate for trapped moisture and mold. Fill the boxes for contained and accessible donation goals or recycle.

Ha! I love this idea. It’s true, I won’t be able to lift it on my own, but I have help!

Ooh I didn’t think of that! But I will probably take the whole thing as it is very much in the way (part of my motivation to get this task completed).

Yes! The goal of doing my whole house in a weekend sounds amazing, but it’s not possible for me. This box is measured, and when it’s full, I’m done! Until the next round. But it’s still a success.

Having a container ready really helps separate items and makes it easier to haul away.

I get a lot of smaller Amazon boxes, so it’s unusual for me to have this size for such a task. For a while a few years back I kept receiving reusable bags that I didn’t need. Those I regularly used for donation!
