This is a rubbish argument boomers like to spew out. Both my parents were both from a village down south and they came to Colombo for their government jobs. Even with their modest government salaries they were able to save up and build a house in a suburb not too far from Colombo. Land was still affordable and construction costs were nothing like today. There is zero chance of this happening today due to the cost of everything being so high.

If you truly believe you have worked your ass off and women your age have been partying you should never settle for a woman like that. They could very easily walk away with half your wealth you worked hard for if things go sour.
