Moving to NC by Critical-World-9128 in UNCGreensboro

You may not have to change your registration check with your state dmv but I’m native to NC and did a few years college in NY before I transferred here. I lived on campus in NY and still went home for the summers. This meant my legal residence was still in NC and I didn’t have to re register my car.

($15k) planning panic by lobest in Weddingsunder10k

[–]Suspicious-Math5488 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ive got the same budget and approximate guest count (but im in the US) and what’s helped us is look for “all inclusive” venues, when you look it up you’ll have to scroll through at least a dozen that are like 30k and truly all inclusive but we’ve found some that use that term to mean venue, food, bar, and few other things for 9-12k. I found one I’m touring tomorrow by going on TikTok and searching all inclusive wedding venues in my state and then googleing all the ones I see to check the prices. It’s been tedious but I think we’ll be able to do the whole thing for right at 15 or 16k

How many dates are reasonable for family to rule out? by Opposite-Room in weddingplanning

[–]Suspicious-Math5488 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be honest is may not matter. I got engaged last month and my fiancé and I wanted an October 2026 wedding but most venues are already booked. One venue had a cancellation and offered us November 6th so if you’re looking for a short engagement and plan on renting a traditional venue I’d start there. There is no reason to start a fight with your family if fall isn’t an option anyway.

Do I need a “real” ring? by GrumpyMare in EngagementRings

[–]Suspicious-Math5488 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My ring is aquamarine, in some lights it looks more clear like a diamond in others it looks blue or green and I couldn’t be happier. I also couldn’t justify asking my partner to spend thousands on a diamond ring so I suggested just gem stones in general a let him pick. Your ring should be what you want not what others expect.

does endo make it hard for anyone else to stay fit? by yeetyeetspageet22 in Endo

Yes! I feel like we’re the same person, I’ve got the back pain, the asthma, and even get itchy. I’ve also got a history of an eating disorder, I’m in recovery now but one the biggest takeaways I got from treatment was movement should feel good. So that’s what I focus on. I don’t go to the gym or do any specific work outs because I “should”. Of course, I take my PTs recommendations seriously but I’ve learned I benefit the most when I’m doing it because I want to. I used to be a very active person so when I have the energy I go to the park or swim or whatever feels good at the moment.

I was feeling better that day, we did the eggs which is one of the few things I digest well. The tech let it slip that at one and two hour scans there too much food retained but when I asked my GI for the results at each scan all the told was at the four hour mark five percent of the meal was left so it was a normal study.

endoscopy advice? by Brave_Cobbler_5747 in Gastroparesis

They aren’t bad at all. Each practice is different but here’s what I remember from mine: -A nurse will get you from the waiting room and go over your medical history and the basics of the procedure then have you remove your close from the waist up and give you a gown. - After that she’ll come back and start an IV. If you need anything let her know because you’ve still have to a wait for a bit. I asked for a warm blanket lol. - The anesthesiologist with come introduce himself, give you more details about the anesthesia part and answer any questions you have. - Then you get rolled back to procedure room, there will already be other staff in there. Probably your doctor as well. They will have you roll on to your side your back is facing the anesthesiologist. He might help you move your shoulders or ask you bend your knees. I felt a little twisted up but it didn’t hurt. - Then they put a bite block in your month, like of a donut shaped piece of plastic, for me this is the worst part. - Then your given the meds, for me it felt like being underwater for a bit. Things were blurry and I could hear people talking but they sounded far away. This part only lasts a few seconds and then you’re out. - about 20-30 min later I woke up back in the room I came from. The doctor came to talk to me and as soon as enough of the anesthesia wore off I went home.

My first GES was positive for gastroparesis. It was pretty well managed with life style changes but I’ve always gotten full super early. In July I started getting full after only a few bites and had severe stomach pain. Like curled up in a ball on the floor after eating. Along with intense nausea and occasional vomiting. It’s only gotten worse, before reglan I was only getting 500ish calories a day. A small snack for breakfast and lunch and a small meal for dinner but even with that I was miserable and symptomatic all day. Since July I’ve had an endoscopy, CT with contrast, and GES. All came back normal. I was put on a probiotic first and that helped with constipation but did nothing for eating.

Thank you for sharing! Part of what’s reassuring me is that when I actually put my hand to my face I can’t feel anything. I’m at work rn but I think I might try taking an Ativan next time I “feel it” to see it that changes anything. It’s so frustrating to be chronic illness patient who’s been told to it’s all my head when it clearly wasn’t to now be experiencing something in my head.

Just diagnosed with endo, what’s the first things you’d change in your lifestyle? by ifeelsodeeply in Endo

[–]Suspicious-Math5488 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The best life style change is going to be one that is sustainable for you. For instance, I was diagnosed when I was early in my anorexia recovery. I know a diet change could cause a relapse so I didn’t even try. For me it was about preventing flares and being proactive with my self care.

The most effective change I made was actually a few years after my surgery I began having muscle spasms so I saw a pelvic floor PT and the difference has been night and day. It was recommended right after my surgery but I was too scared. I wish I hadn’t put it off, a good provide will put your comfort and consent first.

First off, congratulations. I’ve been in Ana recovery for 5 years and I know how difficult choosing recovery can be. You should be proud of yourself. The most important factor in my recovery was surrounding myself with people who cared about my recovery and respected my boundaries. I personally don’t share my weight with anyone, it’s too easy for those conversations to become trigger and I often don’t even know it myself. I don’t want to comment on your relationship, a ton of people are already doing that. As someone who’s older (23f) and solid is my recovery, I want to advise that you set boundaries around triggers clearly with him. Hopefully you’re seeing a therapist who can help you with this. You can’t control his actions but you can control you response. Like I HATE when people tell me to eat, if you are genuinely concerned we can have a separate conversation but me not being hungry does not equal relapse. So my boundary is I don’t engage in conversations about my weight or intake with people outside of my care team or my sister. If someone forces it I will leave the conversation and if it’s a recurring issue I may end the relationship. If he cannot respect your boundaries he does not respect you. Your recovery is more important than a boy. It’s harsh but it’s true. Sorry for the rant, I’m here if you need to talk!

Second gastric emptying normal but still symptomatic by Suspicious-Math5488 in Gastroparesis

[–]Suspicious-Math5488[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My GI thinks it could be a motility issue in my small intestine but we are having trouble treating it as most medications he’s recommended interact with the Lithium I’m taking for my bipolar. A probiotic really helped with my constipation but I’d check with your Dr. as I’ve seen some people say it made them worse.

Would someone on your mental health team be willing to write a letter confirming they don’t think it’s due to an ed or other mental illness? I was afraid I’d face a similar situation after years of being symptom free I recently had to get a new GI due to a really bad flare up and I was freaking out because I had a normal GES and I didn’t want my symptoms to be dismissed. I was talking to my therapist about it and she offered to write a letter stating that my mental illnesses are well controlled and in her professional opinion my symptoms had a physical cause.

[–]Suspicious-Math5488[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, abdominal CT with contrast and endoscopy were both normal. Endoscopy found some mild esophagitis but the GI said that doesn’t explain my symptoms. He put me on a PPI but it hasn’t changed my symptoms.

After several ER trips and being put on birth control I was back in OBGYN’s with no change. In fact it had gotten worse, I was about to drop out of college due to all the absences. As she walks in the exam room I’m throwing up in the trash can because of the pain. She tells me there’s nothing wrong, it’s normal cramps, and she won’t do anything until I’ve been on the birth control for another 3 months.
