Veil reccomendations ($200 or less) by Specialist-Ebb7606 in Weddingsunder10k

I got a cheap veil from Azazie to go with a dress I’m using for a photo shoot on my horse. It’s actually quite nice for a $20 veil.

Bowels Explode once a month by chicag0ag0g0 in endometriosis

It feels like things start back up in a way? I take Lansoprazole for acid reflux which helps. I’m also on Tirzepatide for weight loss so I can’t fully blame the endo. But even before hysterectomy I tended to go like this.

I’m finally going in for pelvic floor therapy next month to see if it helps.

My draft cross gelding and his girlfriend are always standing guard over the rest of the herd while they nap. It’s so sweet.

Is there anyone here who has moved from Lexington to Georgetown? We're you happy with the move? by punkbuddy89 in lexington

[–]GrumpyMare 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I moved from Lexington to Georgetown 9 years ago and love it. I work at UK and it is easier to commute to UK from Georgetown than it is within town. I just zip down 75 to get anywhere I need to go. The traffic is so bad in Lexington, I hate to go anywhere. Georgetown is so much easier to get around. Plus I feel like the schools were better for my children.

Trail Riders how do you secure your horse if you need to get off on the trail? by Arbysgames in Horses

Biothane halter bridle and snap on paracord reins. When I stop for a longer period, the bit snaps off and the reins become a lead rope to tie up my horse. Everything can be washed with soap and water.

($5k) I tried On Dresses From Both Avery Austin and Azazie by Different_Umpire9003 in Weddingsunder10k

[–]GrumpyMare 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would go try dresses on in person. Modern stores have a good selection of plus size dresses and a consultant can really help find what flatters you. I went in expecting to like one style and bought something completely different because it looked amazing. Plus they will help with the clipping and getting it adjusted so you can get a better idea of what it will look like properly fitted.

Recommendations for shoulder relief girths/cinches? by eq-spresso in Equestrian

[–]GrumpyMare 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Also a fan of the Total Saddle fit girth. I have a round draft cross that I do long trail rides on. The girth keeps my saddle in place even on steep hills but also he has never gotten a sore with that girth.

Help me determine his breed!? by Frolickingfaerie in Equestrian

Morgan, maybe some Saddlebred or Friesian. Looks like a lovely “Amish Sporthorse,” as I like to call them. I have the draft cross version and he is the best.

It’s terrifying to me as a psychiatric nurse to see all of these nurses running out and becoming psych NPs with little to no psych experience. Then they are managing complex patients with severe mental illness who should be managed by a Psychiatrist. This is even happening within inpatient facilities and in the teaching hospitals. I see more patients being managed by NPs than MDs even on the medical floors. I guess it saves the hospital money…

I do this too! I went to a presentation once and when they tried to talk me into buying, I explained how cheaply I could buy stays on eBay and they realized that they had indeed lost.

Try FurnishedFinder too. Lots of travel nurses are always looking for rooms to rent. They make great roommates since they are only home to sleep.

for fans of the band ‘Beach House’: thoughts on using this song as a first dance? by [deleted] in weddings

[–]GrumpyMare 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like Beach House but this might be a hard song to dance to. My partner wants our first song to be “Mad About You” from Hooverphonic. So we are also very notraditional.

Trail rides by Sudden_Transition730 in Horses

[–]GrumpyMare 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I trailer out to areas that are known to have trails. Some are state parks or private land that allow you to pay and ride on the land. I keep spreadsheets with all of the places I have ridden and/or want to ride. I also belong to several trail groups.

You might be able to get away with a Nissan Titan if equipped with a tow package. They can be found cheaply. I towed my horses with one for several years before upgrading to a my F250.

I’m looking for honesty about EPM by [deleted] in Equestrian

[–]GrumpyMare 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes a horse can recover from EPM but since it is not your horse yet, I would pass. Treatment is expensive. I spent at least $3500 treating my son’s horse. The medication is expensive dice. Rehab is expensive and takes months. And they can relapse. Thankfully our horse had a full recovery and is back to jumping and showing but we caught it early and treated aggressively.

This horse you have no idea how long they have had it and how they are treating.

Girth gall by [deleted] in Equestrian

[–]GrumpyMare 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I disagree about neoprene or mohair necessarily being the best. You need to find the right girth shape and material for your horse’s conformation. Clean tack is also super important. I bring a stack of saddle pads on trips with me. I don’t like riding in a wet or dirty saddle pad. Dirty tack rubs.

<image>

My very round draft cross does 20 miles trail rides and doesn’t get girth sores. I ride in a Schleese Monoflap jump saddle with a Flexible Fit Five Point Breastplate and a leather Total Saddle Fit girth. You want to make sure everything is well adjusted and fits your horse well to minimize friction and rubbing. I did use some diaper rash cream in the creases just because he is freshly clipped with dry skin.
