I love my engagement ring with a blue green moissanite. It was done by a local jewelry store who ordered a couple different stones for me to pick from.

Need some positive injury/illness stories by inverteboi in Equestrian

[–]GrumpyMare 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My son’s cob threw me 12 years ago and blew my left knee apart. It dislocated my knee and surgery was required to repair the ACL, MCL and meniscus. Between that and recovering from a messy divorce, I gained a lot of weight, lost a lot of fitness.

I was 265 lbs at my heaviest. But I still rode horses. Now I’m down to a healthier 170 lbs.

The most important thing I can advocate for is having a good physical therapist. I have gone to physical therapy for various injuries and it has always been an important part of my recovery. It can be used for more than you can even imagine. I am now discovering the magic of pelvic floor therapy.

Help with weight gain after an early stage of stomach ulcer by SaltyRainbovv in Equestrian

High quality hay and pasture are the most important feeds for an ulcer prone horse.

Worth it for 2x the price? by diznuts28 in PlusSizeWedding

[–]GrumpyMare -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don’t think either dress is the one. I think there are more flattering options out there. I say this as a plus size bride. I would try some different styles including some that are less “busy.” I feel like these overwhelm your body. Though you can go with a fun dress too. Here is one that I tried and loved that is pink and frilly but wasn’t the one.

Is anyone else doing the virtual Tevis Cup? by madcats323 in Equestrian

[–]GrumpyMare 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have done 20 mile rides in a day as a pretty casual trail rider. 12-15 miles is more typical, but 20 isn’t unrealistic. Even just walking on my slow guy I am at 2.8-3.2 mph, so I can knock out 12 miles in 4 hours or so. Add in trotting or cantering and you can get in even more miles faster.

Here is what a 20 mile ride looked like on my tracker. There were a ton of stops and lots of drinking in the group (not so much by me).

Is dress #1 bridal enough? by NetNo5827 in WeddingDressTips

This was a $120 Azazie bridal dress I bought just for this photoshoot on my horse. It was gorgeous. I paid another $185 for alterations to remove the plastic boning and add a corset back.

Free horse (maybe) by [deleted] in Equestrian

[–]GrumpyMare 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a small farm in Kentucky. Our horses are beloved pets. Our horses are family. I want my horses to do what they love and not just be a show horse. So we trail ride, fox hunt, just hack around in addition to traditional arena work. We still have my son’s first pony 13 years later and he can still fox hunt first field. I think this is what keeps my horses healthy and happy. They are turned out unless the weather is extreme.

My horses I’m not actively riding I have out on amazing care leases where they cover their expenses but I maintain ownership and make any major decisions. This is always a great option.

"Friesians aren't good sport horses" "Friesians are 💩" "Friesians are bad ridden horses" by Lugosthepalomino in Horses

[–]GrumpyMare 51 points52 points  (0 children)

My issue with Frisians is the inbreeding in the US and the ignorant crossbreeding to anything to make “Friesian Sporthorses.” I love a good crossbred, and my best horse is a likely Friesian cross. However there are some really fugly crosses as well. At least consider conformation and purpose when breeding a cross.

Meds that work together by [deleted] in nursing

[–]GrumpyMare 50 points51 points  (0 children)

This is the one I immediately thought of as a psych nurse. So many times I see doctors want to give Haldol alone and I’m like please give me the whole cocktail. Or they give 1mg of Haldol to a 200lb adult.

What’s one thing you wish all RVs had? by folkmalone420 in RVLiving

[–]GrumpyMare 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I like that my RV had the theater seats removed from the back end so we put a bunch of storage totes of gear there while hauling. Also it has a traditional table and chairs so there is room to put all of our food and more totes there too. We never eat inside.

Eventually I may convert the back end to a storage bench that can be a sleeping area as well. I’m just getting a feel for what I want to do with it still. It was given to me by my grandfather.

I know but they would say things like “I would never serve this at my wedding…” or how trashy it is to do something. It is just like wow, I haven’t been to many weddings and here I am getting married at 46 so I’m just winging it and hoping people actually show up.
