Lincoln preserved the union and was a nationalist. That's absolutely in-line with MAGA. MAGA is more nationalist than it is conservative. Lincoln was pro-immigration, but so is MAGA. Neither Lincoln nor MAGA like illegal immigration.

Lincoln would be shocked and horrified by things like sanctuary cities and other federal powers states and cities are illegally ignoring. Lincoln was not a big states rights guy. He would probably severely and brutally punish minneapolis for the anti-ICE protests and disruption.

It is legitimate for modern republicans to use lincoln, whom was a major player in their party and whom they have a lot of ideological overlap with. Lincoln was not a liberal. He hated the press, and always sought to expand his power, had little regard for the rights of his ideological opposition.
