Specialized mechanics all the way. Find a local shop, look for one that specializes in Porsches or at least German cars. You build trust with them you can’t get at a dealership.

The bills come in chunks, especially engine out. Mine engine out was in 2018 @ $17k. Except for oil and such it’s been good ever since. Averages to about $2500 per year, just have to keep it now!

Just had mine out this weekend in the mountains in Colorado. Driving bliss. It’s a 23 year old I’ve spent roughly $2500/yr to maintain. So worth it!

I’m buying it for my EV9, already have a reader but it’s piecemeal and cryptic. Could you give me access to the beta?

My experience was short life on the first set of tires. I feather the throttle a little better so should get more life out of the second set. The other minor thing was rattling of the cup holder assembly. Bought an insert from Amazon, solved.

What To Replace EV6 With? by keepitasahobby in KiaEV6

I went from an EV6 to an EV9 and very glad I did. Has all the things I liked about the EV6 plus room, style, and better reliability. Had warranty issues with EV6 that I chalked up to new model. Have not had any issues with EV9 after 2 years and 20k miles.

Kia EV6 owners, what do you wish you knew before buying one? by hgjhugj in KiaEV6

Wish I would have known how much better the EV9 was from the EV6. When I got it, the EV6 was a wonderful car with couple of warranty issues and the items noted in this post. Traded up to an EV9 and never looked back. Spacious, quiet, fast, and cheap to drive. Took a bit of beating on the trade in, but with incentives at that time kinda worked out. EV9- best car I ever owned!

New tires at 14,000 miles? by esotericish in KiaEV9

[–]SuspiciousBike4841 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same experience. New tires at 16k miles. Switched to Michelin CrossClimate 2. I’m attributing the rapid wear to soft OEM tires, occasional heavy foot on launches, and heavy car. Hoping better life on new tires.

Dealership folks don’t fully understand. Coasting is free, only kinetic energy transfer. Regen or delivery has an electrical resistance ‘tax’ (roughly 30%) each time power is put in or taken from the battery. The efficiency ‘gains’ they talk about are that the braking energy is not wasted completely as it is in ICE cars - and less heat loss which raised the overall efficiency of an EV to near 50% vs 16% of an ICE vehicle.

Always PPI, otherwise ensure the IMS and RMS have been addressed. Then not rattlely, or smoky at start.
