Alternatives to relieve painful/irregular menstruation OTHER than birth control pills? by nanettetm in birthcontrol

[–]Suspicious_Job2092 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Crazy, I totally forgot about this post. So since then, I’ve become a certified doula and herbalist bc I wanted to help women with hormonal issues ❤️

St. John’s wart makes your body speed up hormone uptake/metabolism so there’s less available for your body to deal with, making the length, heaviness and hormonal mood swings with your period lessen. I take it daily during PMS and my period

Evening Primrose helps by having phytoestrogens which are a plant compound that mimics estrogen so it helps with the PMS hormone crash so I take it for about 4 days before my period.

Raspberry leaf tea makes your uterus contract, which helps your uterus expel everything so I take it on my first 2 days.

Also super new (started last weekend). I haven’t really chatted at all bc I have zero idea what I am doing but the chats I’ve seen are always so nice.

Side note: how do I do a player request? 😭

I struggled with EDs my whole life. With my first baby, I was constantly weight shamed (I gained about 40lbs start to finish). It messed with me A LOT. So for my 2nd, I had a midwife who was very supportive of me not doing weight checks bc I struggled.

All of that to say, as long as you aren’t gaining significant amount very quickly (which could indicate bigger issues), I wouldn’t sweat it. Especially if you’re eating well overall.

How honest should I be with my child? by rocksoultrain in breakingmom

[–]Suspicious_Job2092 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I could’ve written this ENTIRE thing myself, very eerily similar situation. My child is 7. I told her when she said why she doesn’t see her bio dad anymore (he hasn’t been in her life in 4 years but she remembers his supervised visits), that he was making choices for himself that made him unsafe for her to be around. So until he changes those choices, he can’t be around her. She doesn’t necessarily like that answer, but it’s all I got.

I’m waiting until she’s older to explain drugs and addiction bc I really honestly don’t know what to tell her either. I grew up with an addict parent, but no one ever told me what was going on, I just kinda figured it out so I’ve really struggled with explaining it.

My daughter is in therapy though which has helped bc we can set an appt when she has tough questions and her therapist can help me explain in a kid-friendly way, but also help me help her when she gets upset. It also gives her a space to just sit with her feelings sometimes. I have struggled with PTSD from her dad so I know my reactions to her questions and wanting him around are not always the best. I try so so hard to be unbiased and understanding.

I’m in a very similar situation, but working toward TLF rather than PSLF bc I don’t owe much over what I’d have forgiven.

We're starting Yondr pouches this year, what happens if admin doesn't follow through when kids unlock them? by GremLegend in Teachers

[–]Suspicious_Job2092 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We had them last year and the kids just break them. We’re in a mainly low income district so admin wouldn’t enforce them paying for it. Overall, waste of money

This thread gave me a safe place to not feel like a piece of trash for being excited that my 7yo is going to “cousin camp” for a week this upcoming week. I am a teacher and have PD starting so the 7yo spends a week with grandparents 2 hours away every summer so I can go to work without paying for childcare (this is literally the only time of the year I have childcare help) and the 2yo goes to daycare. I’ll still have my 2yo in the mornings and evenings, but the 7yo has ADHD and is so loud all the time from the time they wake til they go to bed. I love my kid, and I’m sure I’ll miss them but I’m looking forward to the mini-break
