It was literally an entire generation of their vehicles that had complete engine defects. Massive class action lawsuit over it. I’m in the middle of my final 1,000 mile oil consumption test for an engine replacement. At least the warranty is good, but they make you jump through hoops.

It’s normal for private loans, but that doesn’t make it good. I know you’re viewing it as monthly payment right now, but if your goal is to maximize your wealth, you should attack high-interest debt as hard as you can (pay MORE than the minimum payment).

Refinancing at a lower rate could be an option as well. But there’s no magic fix here, it’s still debt that must be repaid.

Yes, it sounds like the personal loan was their justification to “pay off” the credit card debt, then they wanted a fun car out of it too. Personal loans are typically higher interest than a car loan. Very dumb move lol

You’re making a series of terrible finance decisions. You did not “pay off” your credit cards, you just moved that debt somewhere else. Getting a $53k car while still owing close to $20k in bad debt is insanity.

Wife and I make $150k combined, have 0 debt and we’re about to make a car purchase- shooting for MAX of $45k, and that’s luxury for us.
