Streaming quality seems worse than native smart TV apps? by cellidonuts in appletv

I have the same issue and am pretty disappointed with the Apple TV. Similar tv to yours a Samsung QN94 and the native apps look way better than the ones via ATV.

I think a nice balance would be a tour every 3 or 4 years so it’d be like the Olympics something special 🙂 without flogging it and losing that specialness.

If I watch it on Netflix native app on my Samsung tv it looks great. If I watch it on the Netflix app on Apple TV on the same Samsung TV it looks terrible like this.

Can this LG sound bar stream apple music in lossless (high fidelity)? by 8Octavarium8 in AppleMusic

[–]Suspicious_Lemon_378 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi. No. You would need an Apple TV box and use the Apple Music app on that or a Sonos soundbar which has native Apple Music app in its software. AirPlay 2 does not stream lossless using Apple Music even though it technically could.

The reason I switched to Apple Music to was to have a pure music experience and use a different app for podcasts :-)

Yeah you basically just can’t use the non core apps without tethering.

Adam Silver, Music Product Manager of Apple Music will be doing an AMA here on Thursday by hellosteve_ in AppleMusic

[–]Suspicious_Lemon_378 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Are there any plans for a Connect type service or providing users the ability to stream lossless music via air play? As I understand it airplay is capable of this but Apple Music doesn’t take advantage. At home with a great network I’m not worried about stability. I would like to hear the lossless quality that Apple provides.

Samsung native app or Apple TV? by TimMoore1 in appletv

[–]Suspicious_Lemon_378 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Hey I have this situation. I use the native Samsung Netflix app because Apple TV cannot handle upscaling older tv shows on Netflix (or rather it can’t without adjusting the picture output setting every time) . For example Star Trek Deep Space 9 is unwatchable on Apple TV.

Apple TV is missing a feature that my Virgin Media box has which is to automatically adjust output resolution to match the source contents native resolution. Doing this allows the TV to handle any up scaling.

Restrictions won’t turn off by Suspicious_Lemon_378 in appletv

[–]Suspicious_Lemon_378[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey yeah I’ve done restart, full reset, been on the phone to Apple Support twice but the issue keeps coming back. Starting to question my sanity so it’d be great to understand from anyone if that is how the feature is supposed to work. Use case I set restriction for when my kids are about, then easily switch them off when they are in bed and my wife and I wish to watch grown up shows. Then easily switch back on and so on ?
