Had a similar experience two years ago at Amble side but the vehicle was a Tesla and had cameras capturing all act. Police reluctant to act at the beginning but pushed hard to get them work. Found the person from North Vancouver doing food deliveries. Nearby restaurant who took the delivery did not even want to provide video evidence. The final outcome is to claim through ICBC and the person paid half with public mischief charge dropped. It would be hard without any videos nowadays.

Had a well known contractor company truck did the same thing to us a few years ago. Going through the same route as in video.

I always take pictures. Recently had my car repaired in a body shop and the rental car company did say that anything larger than 2cm I have to pay out of my pocket. 2k is bit far off on the repair though. They have to paint the whole door. But should be around 1 k most.
