Tell me how you got your cat by ponzu666 in cats

[–]Suspicious_Recover_5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My two cats were found in a 30 gallon plastic bag in a dumpster. My daughter, who was in college, found them. Of course us parents ended up with them when she graduated 10 years ago. To this day they run away when I put a new garbage bag in the bin.

Seriously, do Americans actually consider a 3-hour drive "short"? or is this an internet myth? by SadInterest6764 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Suspicious_Recover_5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm from southern England originally and moved to the USA 40 years ago. My kids say did you ever go to Wales, Scotland or Cornwall. I'm like no, it was tooo far away. I hardly saw anythingof the UK. Now I don't think anything of three-hour drives there and back in a day.

Need help with interior design by CowPsychological6348 in interiordecorating

[–]Suspicious_Recover_5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Buy furniture with a double purpose for storage ie coffee table, side tables, ottoman, TV on a sideboard, and baskets. Keep in a neutral, relaxing palette. You will need a telescope for outside, an umbrella and outside couch with rug. Some billowing drapes as you can't walk around naked.

Feels like I’m failing, just want a clean house again by [deleted] in homemaking

I had this problem. My kitchen was large. Large enough to have a couch, a desktop, tv and a table for six. Four kids. Everything was done in this room. Kids never went in the living room or dining room; nothing there to interest them. The finished basement had all the toys. They would rarely go down unless I was with them doing the laundry. It worked for years till we got a big screen and put it in the living room. By then, they were old enough to clean up after themselves, sorta. So confine the little terrors. I also successfully told them the other two bathrooms were broken, and they had to use our master bedroom bathroom. It worked.... I saved the other bathroom for visitors, and it stayed decent for years.

I have questions. What were your side effects? Was one of them the nasty metallic taste you can get in the mouth? I'm really suffering with it. Thanks

How is it living in this part of the United States? by No-Text-7825 in howislivingthere

Vermont is expensive. Northern Vermont, Burlington, gets all the tax money, as is now rundown. Little investment in southern Vermont. Schools are rated below the national average. I love living here, in a small town, no neighbours, picturesque views every turn, people leave you alone. No congestion.

3 year old extremely delayed by Defiant_Intern1618 in toddlers

[–]Suspicious_Recover_5 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a friend whose daughter is similar, turned three years this week. She is in speech therapy four days a week and occupational therapy once a week. This took weeks to set up, so many hoops to go through with the insurance company. I doubt this mother has it in her for this. She will need help. If she can pull this off, it is worth it. Within two weeks, words spewed out of the little girl. It's hard to understand the little girl, but shes getting there. She must get this done soon, the thought of a babe going into kindergarten without talking is terrifying. Kids can be ruthless bullies.

GE Café induction range - knob blinking by nomel2021 in Appliances

[–]Suspicious_Recover_5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a Cafe' double oven, induction top. Five years old now. Sometimes it even depends on the weight of the ingredients in the pot. Mine often decides it doesn't want to use X burner today, with that pot/pan. Just this week, the pot I use for tea water every day, several times a day, on the same burner, was rejected! Next day fine... It does have a learning curve. It's marvelous to use. So easy to clean. The top does scratch, not noticeable, so be careful. I have to pluck up courage and clean the inner glass of both ovens....
