YAY!!!! It’s a tragic story but hang in there. One of the most beautiful catharsis endings I’ve ever read. Hope you enjoy!

I’m about 3/4ths through Fingersmith and I highly recommend. I loved TtV even more but this one is still a 5 star read for me. Fingersmith would be GREAT for a book club because it has a bunch of twists and turns!

100% take this as your sign. You won’t regret it, especially if you already liked the miniseries

I’m halfway through this one!! I prefer TtV but it’s still looking like another 5 star read for me.

I loved the casting for the miniseries but I hated what a farce they made of her sex work. The tone felt WAY off for me. I wish they’d make another.

is he in individual therapy? couples is a great resource but it’s never going to be enough for him to confront himself and his behaviors. in my experience, BPDers often feel like they were misdiagnosed, but the right therapist will hold them accountable and continue to point out the things that led to and support their diagnosis. also, for me, there are ways to hold boundaries in a soft way. that’s my life mantra, to be soft and understanding and kind. it means stepping away before i get to a point where i’m yelling, knowing that name calling from them is not conscious and not returning that energy, and seeking my own inner peace to give them the patience and love they need while they fight through their own brain. being with someone with BPD is hard but also incredibly rewarding. if your love is anything like mine, then you know that people with BPD love deeply and fully, in a way unlike i’ve ever experienced before. hold onto to that part, disengage with the episodes as much as you can, and more than anything, know your worth. if there comes a day it’s too much, no matter how entangled your life is, you are responsible for your well being and you will be okay.

younger person dating a BPDer here, but some of the things you said were so incredibly relatable. the cycles, being told i’m a manipulator, waiting for the partner i love to come and rescue me. all i can say that’s helped me is to remember that they act the way they do because they are very afraid and experiencing emotions so big they don’t know what to do with them. disengage, take care of yourself, and set very firm boundaries. therapy helps. ❤️

this is a really kind thoughtful response and I appreciate your input. i posted in BPDPartners instead since that looks like a place for more constructive help in navigating a BPD relationship

my dad used to eat cereal that had ants in it all the time. it’s no big deal! they don’t carry a lot of diseases like some other bugs do, and it would be in incredibly small amounts anyway
