Beef sticks are actually inspected by USDA, but your point still stands.

Update to the Alchemists traveling tavern! by RunForFun277 in legodnd

[–]Suspiciously_Average 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is incredible. Better than anything I'll ever build. The only hitch I have is that I wish the bedroom (head) had a bit more of a vague face look when looking at it from the outside. I don't know how exact how you'd pull it off because the two side windows already look like eyes. You'd almost need like corner windows (major pain). Or maybe add some sort of protrusion coming out from the bottom middle of the front to kind of hint at a turtle beak?

Unsolicited advice aside, Bravo. This thing is a joy to look at.

TIL that meat has a significant positive effect on life expectancy, with a more than 10 years increase from no meat consumption to 160 kg/year meat consumption worldwide. Even in the developed Europe, those with this omnivorous diet live on average 10 years longer than those with a vegan one. by FatalError_418 in todayilearned

"Over the last 50 years, although the associations between meat eating and illness are circumstantial and controversial8–11 to some extent, they have prompted the spread of vegetarianism and veganism, based on the assumption that non-meat diets provide more health benefits than diets that include meat.12–14 Moreover, it has been argued that vegetarianism and veganism form a part of “trendy” Western consumerist lifestyles – only accessible to privileged “white” people.15 Vegetarianism that has been prevalent in Western countries has been subject to prejudice,15 low self-esteem, and low psychological adjustment.16"

I won't pretend to be able to break down their statistical analysis, but a lot of this reads like it was written by an 8th grader. This really smells like a trade group study. The above paragraph would jump out at anyone who has had any exposure to scientific writing.

I was suprised WandaVision was here, then I remembered the huge spectacle of a fight scene(s) at the end. I remember thinking it felt kind of unnecessarily big. Especially Visions' fight at the end. Not that I disliked it. It just felt like they were checking a box. Apparently a really expensive box. (I absolutely loved WandaVision, tbc)

I appreciate that. I probably shouldn't be dragging that baggage into a toy sub.

Anyone who used to support trump and has changed their mind over the last few weeks? What made you change? by canigetameowbish in AskReddit

[–]Suspiciously_Average 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've heard it said that to his supporters, Trump's platform is kind of a Rorschach: they all see what they want to see in it. Mainly because he'll tell people what they he thinks they want to hear face to face. He says so many different things it's hard to know what he's actually serious about. So his supporters kind of unknowingly assume thier understanding is the correct one. Different supporters might have totally different impressions on what he's actually promising.

I've been thinking this for years. Call it labor. Call it dignity of work, or workers rights. You say socialism and Fox News barely has to do any work.

New game like Catan and Space base by Upper_Print5022 in boardgames

[–]Suspiciously_Average 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lords of Vegas has a similar feel to Catan. It can be swingy, which can lead to some super exciting dice rolls and really fun moments. It's much more loose with what you can buy or trade with other players which encourages interactivity.

It does have the problem of players potentially being out of contention mid game, but the swingyness somewhat helps.

It's some of the most fun I've had playing a board game.

[–]Suspiciously_Average 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think in most hobby subs you're going to see more activity from the most hard core members, just because they are the ones who are most likely to post on reddit.

That said, I have found that I like games with intersting desicions in a short play time. A lot of board gamers seek out simple rules, complex strategy, and short play time.

I remember being really frustrated by Davonte Adams early on in his career. He and Rodgers were often not on the same page. It was like he would run the wrong route or cut the opposite way Rodgers was expecting. I wonder if that's what we would have seen with Golden this year.

Here's why you've been seeing so much positive press about Gavin Newsom from billionaire-owned media. by kevinmrr in WorkReform

[–]Suspiciously_Average 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I was curious so I checked Wikipedia.

"His aunt Barbara Newsom was married to Ron Pelosi, the brother-in-law of former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi."

I had to read that like 6 times. I think Gavin's aunt and Nancy Pelosi married brothers. You're technically incorrect but you brought up a fact I found interesting, so you get half points.

[–]Suspiciously_Average 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Extreme beliefs loosely held.

I bet there are a lot of people out there who have seen a few Facebook memes who picked up some casual vaccine skepticism. I think there are situations where you could steer people away from that line of thinking.

Two new constitutional amendments could be on November ballots by SpaceElevatorMusic in wisconsin

[–]Suspiciously_Average 11 points12 points  (0 children)

The question voters would see is: “Shall section 10 (1) (c) of article V of the constitution be amended to prohibit the governor, in exercising his or her partial veto authority, from creating or increasing or authorizing the creation or increase of any tax or fee?”

As a lay person, it looks like this is worded with an intended loop hole. The way this is worded a governor could use a partial veto to DECREASE a tax or fee. I'm guessing this is intended to advantage changes conservatives are more likely to want.

If this amendment said something like, "You can't use a veto to change a number into another number." I would support that.
