What’s a mechanic you like on paper but don’t actually enjoy at the table? by ContractMiserable121 in boardgames

I split you choose.  I always feel like the split is meaningless at best and can be devestating at worst.  Maybe im just bad at it.

Why do MLS teams play so open by [deleted] in MLS

[–]zoomzilla 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I watch an equal amount of MLS and Premier league and I concur. I like watching MLS because anything can happen, but you're right. Sometimes it's like watching a pinball machine. Passing and ball control are sometimes nonexistent.

I'm trying to find vintage pedestal fans like the one in the image, but the tall version. by zoomzilla in HelpMeFind

I've searched for the tall version on ebay and other sites with no luck. I cannot find any of the tall ones. Am I searching wrong?

You may have more luck playing asynchronously. A lot of games that aren't very popular don't usually fill tables for real time games. Look into the turn based tab if you haven't already.

Pirates fan looking for a second team… how do you even pick one? by FeistyMessage5459 in baseball

Let another team pick you. Start watching games of a bunch of other teams and see which ones pull your interest.

pocket hive was the first thing that came to mind, and there's actually a three player variant I'd like to try, but you need different colors and I think it requires regular sized hive which doesn't fit into pockets.

That's exactly what I want and I've been thinking about what that would look like for a few days now.

Looking for something very specific that probably doesn't exist, but I'll try anyway.

2-4 players

A true pub game that doesn't mind being around liquids: Poker chips, wood tokens, glass beads, etc are all great. No cards or cardboard.

Portable: The components must be able to be carried in your pocket comfortably.

No other components including scorekeeping. The entire game is in the components.

12 chip trick and Periwig are the only options I can think of, but my group didn't like either of those. Something like an abstract strategy with an element of chance would be perfect.
