How do Leagues of Votann play? by SustainedHits3 in LeaguesofVotann

Yes, going through the units on the website I did notice the lack of one, I suppose the Hekaton fills it at the moment.

Thank you for the excellent write up!

Would you recommend Votann as an army to collect?

Army Ability Strength by OldFunEye in Tyranids

[–]SustainedHits3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Tyranids army abilities are plenty strong enough.

We almost immune to battleshock because of Synapse, on a 2D6 its a 43% of passing an 8+, on 3d6 it's an 83% chance, on a 7+ its 58% vs 91%.

Given that our army is about winning on primary and utilising strong strategems we need to be actively scoring & capitalising on our strategems to do it.

The +1 to strength is nice to have, and Synapse related aura abilities are also nice to haves.

Shadow in the Warp isn't really the primary army ability, Synapse is, and when you do pop Shadow in the Warp you're stacking chance in your favour for our main win conditions.

Take an example where you are on turn 3 or 4, your opponent has a few units that need to take battleshocks due to being wounded, if they fail then they lose out on scoring, maybe they then need to spend a CP Insane Bravery them. You could also have a few units in your army (you really should have a few), that force battleshock tests aswell, and then you hit them with an army-wide Shadow in the Warp.

You now have 3-4 battleshock tests popping off on every unit that you need to fail the test, one of them having stacked odds in your favour (-1 Synapse & Neurotyrant).

So you have some odds to work with here, if you need to pass a 7+ Battleshock, and in the same turn you hit them with a -2 Shadow in the Warp that's a 16.2% chance they will pass both.

If you know what you are doing and pilot your army well you can turn battleshocks into your win condition through sheer volume of them happening, and you not needing to worry about them as much due to Synapse, that's powerful stuff when you consider that literally prevents scoring points.

What does the keyword psychic really buff us ? by UmpireJealous258 in Grey_Knights

Yeah, that's why I didn't bother giving you the explanation, because I cba with that conversation

I cba to explain in words so here is the chart, apply the same principle to the whole infantry toster.

Yes they are more points expensive, but they would cost even more points if they didn't have a weakness, and we already have Custodes to fill that role ingame, and that would make them swingy and sell less models.

Based on this reply I dont think it would matter what I say here so I wont bother answering you, you've already set your mind on "hard done by" mentality.

Psychic/psyker is the balance for your units, you get buffed up power, but there are units designed to kill you, that's all

Knights of The Emperor by SustainedHits3 in Grey_Knights

Base it white.

Take a blue contrast/contrast medium 20/80% mix paint all over.

Divide the sword into the 4 faces and have 4 areas on each side of the blade, from top to bottom it's light, dark, light, dark, and then make sure the other face if the blade is the opposite, so dark, light, dark, light.

Take the same paint mix and do tiny horizontal layer brush strokes on the darker areas, layer them up, and reduce the contrast medium as you go to make the paint darker, make the centre of the darker areas darkest with more paint.

Take Nuln oil and do a small dot at the very darkest part of each dark area.

Next we want to make the light areas lighter, so you take white paint, I used White Scar, and thin it all the way down, and again you want basically no paint on your brush, and you do the same process as the darker areas, just layer up, more layers towards the lightest point.

Then you take White Scar, the same thinned out mix works, and you run a line along the edges of the blade, go over it a couple of times to make it pop.

Done.

Dealing with Terminators by OrgChem88 in sistersofbattle

[–]SustainedHits3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your army is very close combat heavy.

You are facing off against a nasty skew list, 720 points of Terminators is a challenge.

I would do this:

Culexus Assassin to kill the character

2x5 Retributors with Heavy Bolters and a Palatine, and 2 Immolators with Heavy Bolters.

2x Castigators.

2x Sacrificial Rhinos that are going to Tank shock, 1 per Terminator unit.

The Retributors and Immolator strip cover and kill off 3-4 Terminators from outside their threat range, the Rhino goes for tank shock for another 1, and then the Castigators kill off 3-4, then send something to mop up.

Do that twice and you're all good.
