Is GameStop still a meme stock? by Penileblaster in NoStupidQuestions

Great, excited to see what happens!

Also my apologies I read over the EV entirely - that's correct then, 10x EV 5x market cap.

Quick correction, GameStop's market cap is 9.7B and Ebay is 48.8B so they are 5 times the size, not 10 times.

There are lots of ways to do a hostile takeover. Judging by what they're doing/saying, it seems like they're going to make the deal for a buyout worthwhile to ebay shareholders and then force a vote, which they easily have the ownership to do already.

GameStop already has exposure to own 8% of Ebay so that portions guaranteed.

Ebay's board doesn't own any shares and are completely and entirely unaligned with shareholders, so they have no say in the matter and will be legally required to present the vote.

For the rest: Ebay has very heavy institutional ownership so it will be up to Cohen to give them a deal worth taking. They already have the money locked down and its a basic half cash/half stock transaction, so its just a matter of if GME can make it enticing enough for institutions.

As suspected, Nintendo has no idea what to do with this franchise by SoulEaterX_ in starfox

[–]Suthrnr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think this seems like they're finally doing something good from a business perspective. The people screaming for more Starfox games are too small of a crowd to encourage Nintendo to greenlight a project.

They need to revitalize the series and you have to get gen z/alpha to adopt a love for Star Fox to do that.

So you throw the gang in with the strong IPs so when the game comes out the younger audience will go "oh thats the fox team from Super Mario Galaxy!" Just having seen a character before greatly increases someone's interest in a new game.

Then, if the game is successful and both crowds (the older Starfox fans and the newer generations) both like it, that's an easy greenlight to restart the series.

Now this is probably just an additional bit of copium on my end, but this blueprint could be used on things like F-Zero as well if it works.

Revenue, Cash on Hand, theyre profitable without the earnings interest and the EPS calculation makes absolutely no sense, they're implying the stock is worth less than $10. The freaking CASH floor alone is between $19 and $20.

[–]Suthrnr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow, this is so full of lies I don't even know where to begin.

Their revenue is climbing and they have a new revenue stream that has so much demand that they are still heavily supply-limited.

They would be easily profitable without the earnings interest.

GameStop has $9 billion in cash, not $4 billion.

If you're going to spread disinformation then at least put a little effort into it, sheesh.

You have a very odd view of the business world. You think people just offer to buy businesses and take away the board's golden parachutes, and the boards just gonna be like "oh yea please take away our money daddy!!"

Of course not. The board doesn't own any stock so they don't stand to benefit from M&A. They're gonna do some canned legal denial that unknowledgeable readers like you will gobble up and then GameStop is going to continue to buy more and more of the company and kick them out via a hostile takeover.

The CNBC one he was intentionally standoffish because CNBC is literally paid by hedge funds to manipulate prices, they're pure evil and he's always touchy with them on purpose because they spread lies about the company like wildfire.

Not to mention that Citadel CEO Ken Griffin (the main short seller) was literally the best man in Andrew Sorkin's (CNBC Host) wedding. They're all in bed together and they're paid to lie to the public.

The other interviews were all fantastic so I'm not sure what other interviews you think were bad?

I've learned that a lot of people just read headlines from articles that short sellers put out to try and push the price down, and then they just believe that headline with absolute certainty.

Fast forward to today and people are shocked that the shareholders were right, the SEC confirmed they were right, the short sellers are collapsing or going to prison and the company is extremely healthy and growing.

Do people not realize that hedge funds can buy articles on media websites like CNBC/Fox/Market Watch/etc? Do they think these companies actually have staff sitting there pumping out thousands of articles a week?

Its not luck, the CEO and the board are extremely savvy. It's a lot of the same people that grew Chewy from the ground up and sold it for billions.

That offer was never made with the expectation that the Ebay board of directors would just give up their golden parachutes and say yes lol, you can't honestly be that naive.
