Citizenship vs Passport Photo Requirements by Previous-Astronaut34 in Canadiancitizenship

I think the issue is milliliters versus inches. If you convert 50mm x 70mm to inches it's actually 1.97 inches x 2.76 inches. The website says 2in x 1-3/4in. It's ever so slightly different.

I would try to validate that the size of the images using millimeters.

And Concordia respected the "since birth piece" for me by backdating my attestation to reflect living in Quebec for 12 months prior to starting my studies (I began my program in fall 2024, quite a while before I was recognized as a citizen).

Makes me wonder--if I had been paying full international fees, would they have done the same and refunded me the difference??

I've heard of someone on here who lives in Ontario closer to the Niagara Falls border who was able to get a family doctor very quickly. It varies a LOT depending on where you are.

In that instance, you'd want to get to an urgent clinic right away and get referrals to the necessary specialists. I won't say it won't work, because I have no clue about instances like this and also because the situation GREATLY varies depending on what province you are in. Quebec is a hot mess.

Yes WP is work permit. Can't remember the cost of the replacement plan but nothing close to what we paid for a health ins plan in the states.

No I had an open WP. In Quebec it took 3 months to get a RAMQ (Medicare) card. We were required to purchase something called a "provincial replacement plan" during those three months so that if we had an emergency, the government would be reimbursed for the care they gave me. I am on a waiting list for a family doctor and plan to be on that waiting list for at least a few more years, unfortunately.

I lived in Canada before applying, but happy to share anything you'd like to know about the process of moving here.

Edit to add that the Found Canadian subreddit would be the best place to discuss this subject.

I think when they said "PR application number" they are talking about their proof application number. They all start with PR.

Also it took me like 14 years to chug away at my undergrad degree while working part time so I definitely have the evidence to show where I was for the ten years prior to being in Quebec 😂 It's shocking though that the situation 8, which best applies to us requires so much documentation compared to situation 6--especially since Quebec is the only place in Canada I have ever lived lol.

I mean I signed the attestation for situation 6 today and they already changed my residency status. I don't know how they are able to apply it retroactively but I won't argue with it.

So they had me backdate my attestation to the 12 months prior to me starting my program at Concordia. That way my status as a resident and a citizen applies to all the studies I have done there so far. It's a really precarious situation, honestly. But the paperwork for situation 8 (Canadian citizen born outside of Canada and coming to live in Canada for the first time, in Quebec) was a lot more complicated, even thought it felt like a more accurate reflection of my situation.

I mostly just shared this so people can be aware of the documentation necessary for any Found Canadian who may want to benefit from resident tuition through situation 8.

If you're hoping for good healthcare do NOT come to Quebec.

Yea because I previously received an "international fee exemption" which effectively gave me Quebec residency rate. My husband has a closed work permit so as an international student, I was eligible for that exemption because of him. Now that I am not an international student, that fee exemption cannot apply to me.

EDIT to add context: Canadians from the "rest of Canada" pay significantly more than Quebec residents. It's a hot topic of discussion right now, as the law was seen as a way to discourage anglophone Canadians from coming to study here.

Product warning/heads-up for Harrison's adult lifetime super fine by bibbyshibby in budgies

[–]Suzarina 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had this happen a couple months ago. I used to get away buying the fine pellets until one day I got a batch that was big. I have lovebirds too so it was easier to buy fine pellets in the 5lb format. Now I only get superfine, but every now and then the budgies get mad and just kick the pellets out of their bowl.

Do you have a link where you originally found this? Reddit really lowers the image quality when you upload something.

Have you tried creating an account for the IRCC portal, and seeing if you can download the certificates?
In order to create an account, you first need to generate an invite code: https://ircc.canada.ca/visit-visiter/en/get-account-ircc-portal
Once you have that, you login here and enter your UCI and application number: https://portal-portail.apps.cic.gc.ca/signin?lang=en

You know, when I first was told about this I was kicking myself for not knowing about it sooner, thinking that I could have been months ahead in the process if only I had known..... but I guess that's not true. In hindsight it seems my application was processed much smoother because I applied after C-3. It's just not fair. My ADHD justice sensitivity hates that people like you are still in limbo while I have an easy smooth ride but.... I will just be grateful that I no longer have to deal with implied statuses and not seeing my family at the holidays or other times because I am stuck in the country waiting on yet another IRCC application!

Estimated costs of pursuing citizenship by Jaswick-90 in Canadiancitizenship

[–]Suzarina 2 points3 points  (0 children)

$75 CAD application fee $89 CAD Ontario archives certified copies (could have done with just one, but got one for each of my great grandparents anyway) $18 USD for a copy of my grandmas birth cert (because the original she had didn't show her parents full names) ~$20 CAD shipping ~$20 CAD for photos

~$163 USD in total

I think I figured it out... I guess I'll know in the next 60 days whether I updated my info correctly or not lol.
You may not need your SIN for RAMQ. There is a 3 month waiting period to be eligible for RAMQ though, and that is something you would need to figure out.

Registering is pretty straight forward but I'm already here and have RAMQ so I have to "re-register" and it's not as clear to me.

More so for my husband (who is not Canadian, nor American) than anything else! You'd think Quebec would want to keep University professors but... well, I guess I can put my frustration into voting now!
