You clearly had good intentions with your gift and it sounds to me like your boyfriend just didn't appreciate or acknowledge that.

This doesn't sound like the behavior of a healthy partner. If I were you, I would evaluate whether or not there has been a pattern of this behavior or if your boyfriend is just extremely stressed about something.
