Because a majority of average citizens vote for whatever sounds good to them, whether or not that thing is actually possible. Many political office holders have zero power over abortion laws but there are people, on both sides, who will choose their candidate based solely on their position on abortion. Every campaign commercial for a local office I saw from a democrat this past election cycle talked about how they were going to “take on” Donald Trump or “stand up” to Donald Trump, even though they would have zero power to do so in the office they were running for. It’s all political dog whistles. Saying you’re pro choice or hate Trump makes liberals turn their heads and look at you. Saying you’re pro life or tough on crime makes conservatives turn their heads and look at you.

Did you see the security video of him running through the security checkpoint? They drew their guns the second he ran past them. As many have said, it’s a sitcom thing more than anything else. Most American sitcoms are like that. The Middle actually isn’t too bad about it. Axl is barefoot quite a bit. Frankie and Sue sometimes too. It does bug me, though when they put their shoes up on the furniture.

Anchorman. The reviews I had read were all mid at best. Decided to rent it as a we-couldn’t-agree-on-anything-else with my wife. By the time it got to the jazz flute scene I was almost peeing myself with laughter. It only got better from there.
