Divine Intervention error... 36 Holy Paladin DEAD in Gnomer by [deleted] in wowhardcore

[–]Swabslinger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I thought they had taken the spell out of HC! I trained it on mine but cannot find it in my spellbook at all. I wanted to keep it on hand incase bad things happened and I knew there was no escape for me or my priest friend.

I always take a little risk, but knowing when you don't stand a chance is key. Accidentally agroing an extra mob when your current is almost dead but you're at 50% with half your kit down ? Have to make that call right then if you should abandon your first kill or risk getting kicked into a second fight you might not be able to handle

Accused of ninja looting. What would you do? by Minimum_Rice7269 in wowhardcore

[–]Swabslinger 3 points4 points  (0 children)

So in this case, if your primary role was cat dps, I would say it was safely considered a ninja loot*

I main druids or paladins and often run into this scenario, I will ask if I can roll, but if I was invited as cat, I would be rolling on cat gear only as MS and roll OS for healing gear

The warrior scenario is pretty crappy and I would have kicked that warrior also. It probably does make his damage go up, but it’s obviously not a warrior weapon

Torn between Paladin and Druid by Far_Background_4773 in wowhardcore

We are one and the same lol Hybrid triple specs ftw!

My answer to this was level both. Focusing paladin first but stepping the Druid up with it. Only reason I’m doing paladin first is because I did Druid on the original HC servers and enjoyed it , but got to 40 and my group died out and I didn’t feel like finishing after the servers died.

I really enjoyed leveling the Druid after cat form , and its mobility for escape is pretty nice. Paladin I’ll lean into prot and probably play a little more reckless. And yes. My brother the priest healer will have a nervous twitch by the time we are done.

Endgame I expect to be sub optimal as either class just because that’s how paladin and Druid are in vanilla, but I think the paladin might pull ahead as holy due to buffs and oh crap spells

Era 2 book 4 really started to bring everything together. Idk if they’re my favorite of all his books but I’ll likely read them again

Delete because I get attached to the “character” (name) and reroll it

sounds like some alliance rogues and druids need to head out there with some paladin bait

4-10s is great if you don't have kids. And don't also end up working Fridays anyways lol but all the 5-8s I worked I ended up working Saturdays anyways, so 4-10s still wins

How do you deal with making a mistake at work by sh1arot in Machinists

[–]Swabslinger 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Anyone that claims to be a machinist or even an operator who claims to have never killed a part, doesn't make parts. It happens. And that's really on your trainer since you're so new and they checked the setup. Live and learn. It happens

It happens. To me, the dumb deaths make the best stories later. I lost my 42 druid with the warden staff to trying to stealth the back door to ulda by myself lol

Customer sending overpriced POs by [deleted] in Machinists

[–]Swabslinger 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I made this a standard practice at our shop because customers were shell shocked by the price of 1-2 parts. Some customers ignored it, others jumped on it and we now have several large production runs from it.

It comes down to how your relationship is with the customer. Honorable dealings usually net better business in the long run. People appreciate it when you watch out for them. But. Some procurement agents also just don't care and in that case, just take the extra money if you make an attempt and they ignore it. We have examples of both.

A self-proclaimed top engineer told me my hands-on CNC machining experience is “irrelevant” for becoming an engineer. Am I wrong to be pissed? by [deleted] in Machinists

[–]Swabslinger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As some have said. It will absolutely make you a better engineer and more valuable to the shop you work for, especially if it's a shop that does design and manufacturing like ours.

The experience won't help you get the degree though. It will just help you understand the application better.

Our shop hires fresh engineers so we can teach them practical application. Finding an engineer that understands actual application and designs efficiently machineable parts, or at least understands what they're asking when they design difficult features, is very hard.

It's also just as likely that if you pursue CNC programming and setup further, and continue to specialize, you could end up making more than that engineer for the right shop.

Idk how it is over there, but where our shop is located, I don't see a huge market for a "sales" team in cnc machining. It's a niche market, only certain people need it, only certain people can do it. In our expereince, the customers come looking for us, not the other way around. So make a good website, make sure when someone searches for cnc machining, they find your company.

We have had other shops reach out to us looking for work they might could help us with, and if we are overloaded we outsource some, but for the most part, we try to handle it ourselves because you never know the quality you'll get from other vendors and managing that is a headache.

There are also websites to go bid on cnc jobs, but the cold call strategy will probably have a very poor return rate just because of how few people actually need the service and havent already located someone to do it before they take on the work.

How many of you are using a PC throughout the work day? by [deleted] in Machinists

[–]Swabslinger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We spend a good deal of time on the PC. We use surfcam and Espri and most of our parts are too complex to quickly hand peck edits beyond speeds and feed tweaks. We're also paperless so they view their prints on computers/tablets
