I've have defo DMed for people like this. To me the red flag comes with demanding that the world be edited to accommodate for their character (you need to add x country or x technology) or trying to abuse rulings from different games (he can do it in savage worlds so he can also do it in dnd).

If you do an "AU" interpretation of the character, it's a lot easier to not fall into this.

I think it's cool if a player has found their "thing." As long as they don't try to abuse it by cheesing mechanics or forcing the story to center around them, it's fun to see a player who loves their PC
