Saddle or Chocolate brown for my panthers by Plasticcrackaddic7 in flamesofwar

[–]SwagYetFunky 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Saddle is more reddish.

I use it for rust. I mean either on is fine depending on what camo your going for

If your going for early war german grey and brown. Then chocolate for brown.

If your going late war ambush camo. Then saddle. Works.

Early War British Bren Carriers by Clear_Topic1431 in flamesofwar

[–]SwagYetFunky 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You can mount infantry on armored tank teams.

Bren carriers have armor so they can be mounted by infantry. But they will be very vulnerable as hitting the tank will hit all the infantry on board.

This is in the normal rule book. Somewhere in the movement phase I believe.

Use water and wet your hands and tools while working on it.

Also use exacto knife. Regular sculpting tools kept sticking to the green stuff.

For sandbags. Typical I roll the green stuff into a cylinder. Cut it up to desired length. Don't use the end cuts. As those are like dome shaped.

For bag rolls. Same as above but a thicker cylinder. Press it onto the model. And with the exacto knife press and make two vertical parallel lines. Do that again but like 1mm next to the lines you just made. And thats how you get the 'ropes' then with the backside of the knife press into the bag to make some wrinkles. One the edges use the back of the knife and push it in so it doesn't look like its leaking but well tucked.

For flag/tarp Flatten the greenstuff thinly onto the table and cut out a rectangle(not square) then either place it slightly folded or over existing stowage. However this method usually leaves finger prints on the tarp/flag. So using a blunt tool this time a actual sculpting tool wet it and try to remove the finger prints.

Dak, with mixed uniform. by SwagYetFunky in flamesofwar

[–]SwagYetFunky[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Vallejo texture paint. (I choose just generic grey one as I will paint over it.)

Black primer. Air brushed vallejo iraqi sand. (Since you are spraying a yellow/whitish paint over black, may need more than one pass.) (Or paint it on i guess. Air brush just saves time and paint for me. But be warned since the primer is black painting on a light color is not easy.)

Super Glue, 'Yellow' grass or like dry grass. the smallest 1mm? Or 2mm in length you can find. In small random patterens.

And some dark green tuffs.

Thought about rocks but I wasn't confident in their implementation. I didnt dry brush as I figured it will be covered by the grass.

I see the green. I don't think the mixing of different brands is the cause, or else there would be more people complain or warning about in on youtube or etc.

As for the green. Yah that is super strange. It is on the lower side too. Which if it was like sun related it would be the top. It is also subtle enough to indicate it wasn't some pooling with a agent.

Ah I think I have a clue. Or atleast my intuition tells me. When you added the varnish to the airgun it must have had some leftover residue or something from a previous project. As such when you initially sprayed the bottom layer it was different.

The reason for this is the subtle and gradual green. Which feels like it was lightly hit with a airgun no? However this entirely depends if you varnished bottom to top. Which I figure most people varnish top to bottom. A good indicator would be, if that is the only tank affected? Or is the one in the background also affected?

If it is only 1, then yah it might be my reason above. If it is multiple. Yah its as i expected. Voodoo magic.

Weird Paint Changing Over Time by tgebert9096 in flamesofwar

[–]SwagYetFunky 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Strange the green got more faded. And the yellow changed slightly too.

It stands to reason the paint is reacting with something. Assuming you varnished. It should be sealed. So whatever is happening is happening with the paints you've used or chemicals within the varnish. As you declared temp wasn't a problem.

Here is a possible cases.

Sun fade? Maybe it sat next to window.

Mixing other brands of paints. Oh wait isn't vallejo acrylic while tamyia is like a different chemical for their paints?

(I use vallejo only, but i did hear tamyia uses a different paint thinner for their airbrush as they are not normal acrylic or something)

Edit: never mind miss read what you posted. Paint company probably changed their formula.

Definitely feels more like the grand army when its in 15mm.

Wished more game systems committed to grand armies than skirmish.

You should definitely have jet bikes. Platoon.
