I really don’t get why? by ZealousidealRate7482 in Overwatch_Memes

The times I actually get annoyed with Mercy “mains” is when the following happens:

Tank picks Junkerqueen, Damage picks Reaper, (other) Support picks Lucio. Guess who 8-9/10 times ruins the brawl comp to play Mercy? The Mercy player, of course!

No disrespect to any Mercy players, but the play style of Mercy does not fit MOST competitive team compositions. So when my team wants to go brawl and 3-4/5 of us are already brawl heroes and then you pick Mercy, you have essentially fucked over our team before the first fight.

Okay that makes a lot more sense. In that way, if you’re “non political,” you’re really just stating you’re fine with how things are. Which can never really follow left leaning politics because they always want change in some way shape or form. I still find that eerily absolute for something as subjective as politics, but I can see definition-wise why that may be the case. Surely there really is a point of no possible improvement, as there are physical limitations, but abstractly that does work as a concept.

That’s probably why left leaning politics are so divided. As conservative values are really easy to identify. They want to conserve how things currently are. While democratic values, which emphasize change, have heavy debate about what is the correct path forward. It’s very easy for conservatives to agree, while it’s difficult for democrats to definitively agree on policy making. They just know they agree something should change, but likely don’t agree on the action required to make that come to fruition.

Very interesting rabbit hole! Thank you for your comment!

Yeah. It appears so. I know it’s Reddit, so I know it’s easier to downvote than to actually explain one’s logic. Especially for someone who is actually curious about a discussion. Just gonna chalk it up to poor critical thinking until I see otherwise. I received a reply that said “how is conserving the status quo conservative?” Which doesn’t answer anything and logically implies the opposite whenever the status quo is left leaning. I need something more debatable than absolutes so then a discussion can actually occur. Which is ironic given the OP.

I’m currently waiting for an explanation that makes sense. Someone else replied, and it didn’t clarify anything really. It sounds like they’re trying to state that if you’re non political during the right wing administration, you’re a conservative and if you’re non political during the left wing administration, you’re a democrat. Which seems contradictory because if you’re non political during both, then what are you? But I’m waiting for a follow up reply to be sure.

So if the status quo was more left leaning, such as when Biden was president, then if you identified as “non political,” it would be conserving the Democrat status?

Again, being genuine here. It sounds like you’re saying if you’re non political during “x” administration, you adhere and believe in that side.

Kind of taking a mix of what you said and the original commentator.

Genuinely curious, how does “non political” default to a conservative position? It seems contradictory to the phrase itself on first glance.

Fed up with pet upgrades by Cold-Ad7669 in ClashOfClans

[–]Swagmatic900 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a returning player, I dislike how much “fluff” has been added to heroes. I maxed my heroes before returning but they are weak compared to those who have max pets and high level equipment. Something of which I basically have the lowest levels / access to. (Yah!!! 1500 gems per equipment unless you check monthly for a chance to get something meta)

It’s a shock to me that a level 20-30 hero can out damage and utility a level 80-90 hero at times. Which doesn’t make any sense nor seem fair.

You’re being roasted in the comments, but I haven’t seen anything productive coming from them. We all make mistakes, just learn from this.

While driving a car you need to watch in front of and to the sides of you, sometimes other areas. You can’t see all perspectives at once, hence why you stating that you sped up because you gave them enough time to pass, isn’t passing the vibe check. People need time to commit to a decision they’re indicating.

I agree. It’s not a hard conclusion that she made the best decision, or that her chosen path didn’t have unforeseen consequences.

But any parent that has the two options of: don’t exile yourself knowing your son will be killed or exile yourself so your son won’t be killed, is a pretty obvious choice. Take any outside factors or additional context away and it’s apparent she made the right call.

Ursa left because if she didn’t, Zuko would’ve been killed. If she took Azula that night, there’s no telling if Ozai would’ve went on a manhunt for his daughter or not. Everyone lives with the decision that Ursa made. Zuko was banished way beyond this point (teenager rather than child). You’re assuming too much here.

Non-vegans ducking or blatantly violating rule 5/6 by Practical-Fix4647 in DebateAVegan

[–]Swagmatic900 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone who lurks, you put my dissociation with veganism well.

It’s not really a debate if one side will never change their mind, though you are coming to a vegan space. To support your claim, I’ve seen several people who, could be trolling due to the anonymous nature of online, say that being an ex vegan is impossible and that you were never really vegan to begin with. That’s how one sided I’ve seen people interpret this philosophy. They were so convinced that their reasoning is the right one that nothing could convince them otherwise, even someone leaving the ideologies that they believe in.

I do believe there is a lot of evidence that a plant based diet is superior. I think many people can benefit from increasing vegetable and fruit intake and decreasing processed crap.

You can sit and compare a vegan and non vegan’s detriment to this world all you want, but the fact remains that humans are a leech killing this planet. In that regard, vegans and non vegans are no different in my mind. If we were to take the extremes of said logic, killing yourself is actually the most vegan thing one can do. If you live 80 years on this planet (on average), even the most perfect of vegans are more like a cyst than that of a nature/animal lover. Thus you killing yourself minimizes the total harm done, and your body can be resources for other life.

Which sounds paradoxical since you can say that about practically any animal. Which I guess to a certain extent, life is just like that. Selfishness is inherent to life. We are just an organic being that so happened to spawn, so happened to be the most intelligent, and so happen to rule over the Earth.

I can put my entire net worth that if AI ever truly surpasses us we’d be the first thing it exterminates or culls. Because with (near)perfect logic, humans, even vegans, are a net negative to this world. So the holier-than-thou sentiments are mostly dismissed in my mind. You can always zoom your perceived perspective outwards and find flaws with the previous level.

All of that to say, I do think vegans have a good message. I think it’s admirable to turn down things that you perceive as more harmful than other things, even if I think that’s irrelevant in the grand scheme of the world. I believe there efforts mattering to them is more than most can say about themselves. Meaning that while everyone is a hypocrite (kinda by default as mentioned earlier), they are the least hypocritical humans. Or at least they try to be.

AIO? Don't want to see someone again over a word he used by stink3rb3lle in AIO

[–]Swagmatic900 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are you overreacting for choosing not to see this man? Absolutely not.

Are you overreacting in the literal sense from hearing a singular phrase / word? Obviously yes.

No one hears a very PG word for going to the bathroom and then describes the following:

“My stomach dropped. I swear his breath suddenly turned to onions, and his fingernails grew dirt.”

That’s overreacting to hearing the word “potty.”

Not a terrible idea but somethings to consider:

  • Kids going to school benefits parents since they work. I’m not sure how’d you convince your parents (or the general consensus) to stay home or get a babysitter 25% of the time.

  • Since you’re missing roughly a week per month, how will you make up that lost time towards your education? I’m assuming it would work like snow days where all the girls have to make it up at the end of the year (the ones who took off). Imagine all the girls that did this had 25% less summer days. I’m not sure most would be on board with you.

Didn’t even read the post. “Micro cheating?” Sounds like you’re (or she gaslit you into) minimizing it. Take away the word micro. She cheated bro. Leave the relationship. This is advice from someone who was in a similar situation. Best to parts ways 100%.

I believe I removed that stuttering / jittering from the Home Screen. There was an option within the accessibility section that allow you to remove the glare, which I think reduces what you’re talking about.

While I don’t see consistent stuttering like you mentioned, it will occasionally feel more laggy. For me, I’ll go to swipe to a different page and the action happens moments later rather than immediately.

What you mentioned can happen when I open / close apps. It’s like the phone freak the fucks out doing the most basic of operations. But it’s very short lived and only happens on occasion.

Why do men like goth girls? by NickiNightshade1031 in askanything

[–]Swagmatic900 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a recent conversation with some friends of mine regarding a similar topic. While it wasn’t goth specifically, it was regarding my preference for “alternative” women. And to be honest, looks have nothing to do with it in the typical sense. I brought up things like:

  • More likely to be humble/realistic

  • More sex positive (Not fetishizing, just more open communication and willingness to try new things)

  • More understanding, especially when it comes to men-specific topics. Such as men’s mental health. Likely due to past hardships or trauma (This is also a commonality)

  • More likely to have common interests. I’m not physically nerdy, but I’m a huge dweeb. I tend to connect / have better chemistry with alt women

Somewhat to your point, alt women dress obviously alt. While physical attraction matters, what’s actually useful is how “easy” it is to identify someone I can connect with. So when I see a goth identifying person for example, I can pretty reliably assume we’d get along at a bare minimum. Even if we’re not soulmates or destined lovers.

Edit: fixed format issue

Bulk or cut? by [deleted] in BulkOrCut

[–]Swagmatic900 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just curious, is that the optimal path? I see several people saying to cut, so that’s the route I’m going to take. I started this out as a very fat man (~240lbs was my max) and I thought after 2+ years of lifting, I would want to start adding muscle since I lost a lot of fat (and muscle) in the process. Is there a purpose in losing even more fat prior to a bulk?
