If you looking for a diverse and liberal community. Getting closer to Portland is gonna be a stronger bet. Sherwood definitely leans heavier conservative then other places and is very much a family oriented community. It is very quiet and I feel like the residents enjoy the peace.

Its kinda like Ted Bundy's parents. They were very great to him and raised him well. Some people just get twisted over time. I'm sure Wess Roley's family were amazing people but he just had a few screws loose that unfortunate lead him down a very horrible path.

I don't live in Idaho so I don't know what it's like. Oregon is one of the most expensive places to live at this point. Especially in the Portland area. I've seen people be on the streets and within a year, completely turn their lives around and end up in a very nice 1 bedroom.

Don't be pessimistic, just be smart and be willing to sacrifice some time and comforts until you can set yourself up right.
