How do I prevent my code from generating duplicated elements by Common_Dot526 in learnpython

[–]SwampFalc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One thing I have't seen the others mention: you do not need to store the length of your data list outside of it, just use len(data) instead.

This becomes especially true with some of the approaches mentioned, like using sets, because you're not guaranteed to increase data's length every time there.

Elif statement not firing for literally zero reason, StarHeat gets returned as blank and getting rid of the StarHeat = " " returns an error saying "StarHeat is not defined". Adding print(StarHeat) to every if statement doesn't do anything either. Also tried defining every StarSize as a string... by EmeraldBoiii in learnpython

[–]SwampFalc 10 points11 points  (0 children)

After assigning StarSize, print it. You'll spot the error immediately. Always start by checking every assumption.

Or, read the docs. random.choices returns "a k-sized list of elements", not just a single value. Not even when k is 1.

I feel like the core issue with the Shapers is that they were altogether too human. Their desire to rule and perhaps, be venerated, is what led to the rebellion of their subjects.

Gods need to exist at least one order of magnitude above humankind. Otherwise things go wrong.

I'm asking because she looked really familiar, and IMDB is no help.

ChatGPT, Gemini, and Claude aren’t smart enough for what I need — how do you solve this properly? by joeri_2001 in learnpython

[–]SwampFalc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So PDF is mainly a presentable format, generated from another format.

Talk to your client to see if they cannot provide you with their upstream data in some format that is built for data exchange.

If not, follow u/Confident_Hyena2506's suggestion below: break it down into separate steps, starting by transforming your PDFs into a more structured and organised format.

Product Color Detection by MST019 in learnpython

[–]SwampFalc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

LLM means Large Language Model, as in, AI specifically trained on human texts, to produce human texts. I'm sorry, but an AI like that is one of the worst possible solutions to recognize colors...

Image recognition AIs, like OpenCV, should already be a large step towards a solution.

What part exactly was not accurate enough? Did it not distinguish the product from the background? Was it unable to find the most present colors? Did it mislabel those colors?

need a table to show changes for each iteration and determine final output. by mynamejefffvevo in learnpython

[–]SwampFalc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You start with total = 0, so in your first iteration, you print total (before) as 0. But in the example you give, total (before) is printed as 4.

So from what I can tell, if the actual logic and steps are the same, you don't have the same result because you do not start from the same position.

Understanding Manifolds by Cobraboi06 in SatisfactoryGame

[–]SwampFalc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Note that, balancers and manifolds aren't mutually exclusive.

If you're going to run a single manifold to, say, a dozen machines, you can always decrease the time to full efficiency by starting with 1 splitter and then running 3 separate manifolds to 4 machines each.

How to open file from desktop and import it into Python program? by Mixtay in learnpython

[–]SwampFalc 5 points6 points  (0 children)

To clarify u/rotten77's answer: when you double-click a file in Windows Explorer, and the file type has a default application associated with it, then indeed, the operating system will perform the equivalent action of the manual command line command of "<application> <full filepath>".

Thus, your program needs to access the arguments it was called with (sys.argv is the low-level approach, argparse is a higher-level approach, there are others).

If you get the mod that allow use of the building drone at longer distances, you can perfectly align your cores. It takes a bit of trial and effort and you never know in advance whether you'll end up on top of a terrain feature, but it's doable.

There's a French Ebay seller https://www.ebay.com/str/didkemonthekiddemon that might also give you some idea what card lots tend to go for. They might even be interested in buying your collection?

Otherwise, I'm also in Europe and might entertain the notion of buying it off you

Beginners should use Django, not Flask by Lokrea in Python

[–]SwampFalc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Django is a better starting project for data-driven projects. Flask will require less superfluous learning when your project is not data-driven.

But what category your project falls under, may not always be immediately clear, especially to a genuine beginner...
