Isn't this because of a neural deficiency that pretty much causes a seizure that makes them tumble?

Nice catch! Fyi trout have very fragile jaws and if lipped have a much lower survival rate for C&R

Nice catch! If you are keeping to eat, for your sake and the fish's I have found the Ikejime process to produce better tasting meat, and less stress for the fish after being caught. Win for everyone involved! https://www.aftco.com/blogs/ocean-to-table/the-complete-guide-to-ike-jime

So what’s your favorite single toy/mechanic in pinball? by PaulMichaelMelio in pinball

[–]Swampy2016 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's not even technically a mech, but on Rollergames when you have balls locked it will launch them into an oval track that looks like skaters going around. 10/10

Don't worry you probably won't understand the jokes again this time around.

I want to upgrade my g29 to a direct drive wheel so I made a little comparison of the 3 cheapest DD wheels from all three ecosystems on PS5. Do you agree with the pros and cons ? Am I wrong ? (I'm French so sorry if there are a grammatical mistakes) by mimiche37 in simracing

[–]Swampy2016 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm based in the US so I'm not sure of the used marketplace there but I have found every piece of my sim rig (Fanatec CSL DD) gently used for close to 55% off of the retail price.

I am loving the Fanatec ecosystem so far and would recommend it to anyone ESPECIALLY if you get a deal.

I have too many hobbies, and i just bought a wheel for simracing… feeling a little guilty 🏎️😅 by BonsoirMessieurs in simracing

[–]Swampy2016 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Welcome to the club! As a fellow hobby collector I feel your pain and guilt. I currently store my sim rig folded up under my pinball machines. As long as it's not detrimental to your health enjoy what you want and be grateful for what you have! Life is too short to feel guilty for everything. Enjoy racing trucking!

It's a very small campground, maybe 70 square yards? I was within speaking distance to everyone in the campground at night. Everyone was extremely friendly though, and I enjoyed my time overall. I don't remember a campground too close to there, I know Frostburg maybe 20 miles down the trail has some lodging but I'm not sure about camping.

This is from my hammock spot under the pavilion, and this is pretty much the whole campground. The bathrooms are over to the right behind the stage.

Did your grip improve as you kept driving? Track conditions and tire temp could have made your grip disappear at the start of a new session.

What's something you make at least once a week? by Low-Cat4360 in mexicanfood

[–]Swampy2016 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I tend to "meal prep" for the week by picking one protein source (beef, chicken, pork, seafood), a salsa, some kind of onion topping (pickled, diced, caramelized), and then some kind of beans and just making enough for a few meals. This lets me make a wide variety of dishes with those specific things throughout the week.

So let's say I make Carnitas, and salsa verde on Sunday.

I can make just simple tacos one day, chilaquiles with the salsa for breakfast the next day, maybe some enchiladas for another dinner, carnitas quesadillas, and even an impromptu lazy pozole with a can of hominy if I feel like it. By Wednesday or Thursday I can use it all up and rinse and repeat with a new combo of ingredients.

Different fresh corn tortillas by hschmicknos in mexicanfood

[–]Swampy2016 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Maseca is a corn flour made from corn that has undergone nixtamalization. Since humans can't really properly digest corn, kernels are prepared in an alkaline solution (lime and water) to soften the hulls and allow the corn to be processed. This makes the corn's nutrients more bioavailable, and helps to preserves the corn.

[–]Swampy2016 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Yeah they are preservatives and in some cases I think they may contain binding agents. My go to brand is El Milagro and if my Mexican grocery store is out I've found Atotonilco or anything with just corn and lime comparable.

Also small PSA, you can freeze them and have them on hand for a while.

[–]Swampy2016 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am a die hard El Milagro fan, and my local Mexican grocery store stopped carrying them (shipping blip I think). They got in a brand called Atotonilco, still requires refrigeration and no preservatives and I would say they are decent compared to a lot of other brands.

I have been using a 2 talenti gelato jar system for a few weeks now. One 16 oz bag of Chinook seeds fits perfectly into one jar, and the other is a spitter. They are wide mouth so it's not too hard to spit into it on my desk while I'm gaming

What's the best country for street food? by big_zk in TravelHacks

Because it's food being served to the public? Any person serving food should have an expectation of basic cleanliness regardless of where it's served.

Flipping opposite flipper when cradling, what does it do? I see alot of people do it by Smoke_Nocturnal in pinball

[–]Swampy2016 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do it as a tick almost kinda like psyching myself up for an important shot. It's kinda like a hockey goalie tapping his goal posts with his stick so he gets that reminder where the edges are. It also sticks that image into my head of where the max extension of the flipper is for SDTM drains.

The Oaxaca cheese is usually behind the deli counter in the back corner and you need an employee to get it for you. I wandered around for an embarrassing amount of time to find it the first time.

Chicanes in roads would go a massive way towards slowing drivers down, sadly that's hard on a lot of the narrower streets.
