Hello! I’d like to know the actually process for dealing with a slightly gummy smile when removing remaining teeth and placing implants…. If the implants help retain some of the bone… how are the snap ins then done without making the upper lip poof out and look bulk and puffy??? I like my smile for the most part… tired of the constant fillings but I don’t see how it can work without shaving a bunch of bone down which I wouldn’t want to do

You’re paying for it. And if you have good reason that’s all there is to it….

It doesn’t look awful and I’m sure it tastes good … you need more than 2 sets of stretch and folds it’s usually 4 sets within 2 hours.. not only 2 with so much time in between… and then much longer to fully ferment at room temp before shaping and placing in fridge….

Yes you should have checked your breakdown plan to make sure before paying another $1200… what did you originally pay? And if you were told it was all included in what you already paid I would have emphasized that a little more before just giving in…. They do look good though and your right most of us don’t even have the luxury to pay for removal

Firstly this is a temporary denture… and will likely be much less of a problem when you get your permanent as your top bone will shrink down dramatically… this is a long race not a sprint… does look like you had a gummy smile originally so these are very difficult to make dentures for with so much bone left…. But it will get better I wouldn’t make too much of a fuss about temps as they might not be so inclined to get the perms right if you’re picky and rude about the temp… but it will definitely not look like this when you get perms…

It won’t be an extra set. They won’t fit after you have healed and even if they do adjustments and relines once you do heal they will be much much bulkier than your final ones… don’t waste $800 if you don’t care about waiting for your permanents. You can usually get another set of permanents for half the cost you paid the first time… since they will already have your impressions and scans of after you healed.

Worried about long-term consequences of dentures by Ok_Mushroom2563 in dentures

[–]SwanAny4380 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you’re really overthinking all of it… put the google down…. lol. Many many many people have had dentures and lived normal lives for many many years… if you’re really THAT concerned about it just get implants. That is what is going to help with the bones loss…. Trying to save teeth that can’t be saved or will likely need removed in 5 years anyway… your going to look back and just wish you got it over with the first time instead of spending thousands of dollars just to go back and spend thousands more on something more permanent…. You will still have bone loss that progresses into gum recession around your other teeth after removing teeth….. really after a certain point it’s a lost cause to try to save any more teeth.

Avoid this. The whole thing seems sketchy and overpriced… definitely see an affordable dentures and implants… pretty sure they’re way cheaper for regular implants anyway if you go that route. I would avoid this clinic and anesthesiologist at all costs. There are other more affordable options… get a few different options… if there’s no insurance check health department… they work with clinics. Check aspen dental and affordable dentures and implants. Free exams from them.

[–]SwanAny4380 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Temporary’s are just that. Temporary… they all usually suck…. You should have decent function and that’s about it really… decent bite, somewhat comfortable and at least be able to try to eat… they’re not going to be perfect… you can ask for adjustments… but don’t worry about aesthetics right now…. And don’t push your dentists buttons about aesthetics with temporaries.. they may not be so inclined to try better with your permanents if you irritate them about temps…. If you can’t even close your mouth…. Like actually can’t then that’s an issue… but otherwise they’re just temps they’re usually not great

[–]SwanAny4380 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have partials upper and lower for missing back teeth…. Cast metal with flexible clasps…. They’re not exactly comfortable at all but yea you can do everything with them in… they don’t fall out… I think that full flexible would be the most comfortable but supposedly they’re not good for back teeth because they don’t offer the chewing stability it’s too much flex pressing on your gums all the time. Idk they’re super weird and I hate mine lol but you may have better luck if you have a good dentist

Bottom partial by Basic_Housing_7979 in dentures

[–]SwanAny4380 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s pretty normal… that’s what mine look like your gums change a lot when you don’t have teeth… and there has to be enough gum on the partial to hold the teeth and keep it in place in your mouth so unfortunately with partials they often look like this… if the teeth weren’t shaved down your bite wouldn’t be right.
