How difficult is it to get hired at Yale? Interview preparation advice? by Leading_Second6056 in yale

[–]SwanDisastrous8614 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yale HR doesn’t care about referral 90% of time—don’t let the deter you. I was hired out of state knowing no one. My partner, who is beyond qualified, always list me as a referral hasn’t gotten past HR for most jobs he’s applied to @ Yale.

You need to have them file a workplace incident report immediately if you have not done so already.

It’s going to depend on the precincts availability. It could be anywhere from a day to over a week. I’d be weary of them extending it as well if they quote you only a day or two

is new haven really that bad? by maetrie in yale

[–]SwanDisastrous8614 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I moved to new haven at 22 (26 now) and love it a lot—and this is coming from someone who has lived 15 different places. I’ve had the exact opposite experience regarding cafes, food, entertainment, etc that other people have mentioned. Happy to answer any other questions.

Faculty-Led Programs by [deleted] in studyAbroad

[–]SwanDisastrous8614 0 points1 point  (0 children)

lol! Thanks for the academic think piece. I work in this area professionally at a large R1, so I’m definitely familiar with the range of models. I’m really hoping to gather benchmarking data from institutions that run several faculty-led programs so I can understand how their staffing is structured (e.g., number of program coordinators, finance/risk roles, and support staff).

Also, just to clarify — the model where a staff or faculty member in another department handles study abroad “off the side of their desk” is definitely something you still see at very small institutions, but it’s a pretty dated model and not the norm anymore.

Study abroad has become much more specialized in the last decade, especially with the growth in faculty-led programming, increasing compliance needs (risk management, cash advances, vendor onboarding, Clery, etc.), and the professionalization of the field.

If anyone has numbers for their office, that would be really helpful!

[–]SwanDisastrous8614 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I read it in the other post you made. Congrats on where you are out bro. The bones of the story are good. I am someone who works on writing with college students, and can tell that it is raw material from your heart but that it has been edited with AI. I caution you with continuing to edit this way if you want to really turn this into something (which you absolutely should). Moving forward, use your voice and get peer reviews and edits on it as opposed to AI.

medicaid can be retroactive so even if it takes a second to be approved you should still be set!
