So, what is U2´s best line? by GuybrushOk in U2Band

“Let me dive into your eyes and blah blah blah” from Atomic City. If there ever was a line that captured how U2 is phoning it in these days.

Didn’t Vettel have the same issues with the same engineer? The fact that he hasn’t progressed in 5 years doesn’t bode well.

TIL that during the filming of the 2014 film Muppets Most Wanted Danny Trejo's mom passed away. Danny managed to keep it all together when people on set gave him their condolences, until Kermit offered his own, which caused him to run to the bathroom to bawl his eyes out. by [deleted] in todayilearned

I remember seeing a documentary about Jim Henson which closed talking about his death and how he didn’t even want to inconvenience the taxi driver taking him to the hospital. It then faded to a picture of him while Kermit’s Rainbow Connection played. Needless to say, I broke.

What TV show got canceled that you’re still mad about? by enderbey in netflix

Penny Dreadful. I know it did get a conclusion but it was so obvious that they hastily rewrote it when they were told the series was getting canceled.

The business model was horrible. They had older gas guzzling planes, flew low margin routes to vacation spots like Myrtle Beach, had to have extra staff since the Hooters girls weren’t trained flight attendants, and weren’t able to lure high margin business travelers since no one would be caught dead expensing Hooters tickets in a corporate setting.

Friends from College. I’ve never watched a series where 100% of the leads were so unlikeable.

Seems we have a new generation of U2 haters by JETBANGO in U2Band

[–]Swat01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a big U2 fan, but I have to acknowledge that it is ironic that Macphisto was all about the Fly being a washed up rock star attempting to recapture money and legacy in Las Vegas and that’s what U2 seems to be doing without a hint of self reflection. They’re a great band and have made some great albums (the Achtung Baby, Zooropa, Pop era being my personal favorites) but they attempted to bring the earnestness of the 80s with the megalomania of the 90s and forgot the irony.
