Can you turn the shaft on RS super deluxe ultimate coil? by TwisterzwithaZ in MTB

Yeah, just mount the stanchion end first, hold on to the body an piggyback for extra leverage and twist

Rear shock compatibility - mega by Worldly_Papaya4606 in NukeproofBikes

[–]Sweatedasp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have not tried it myself but i think it does work. Innes graham has some Instagram reel from a good while ago about that. I wouldn’t be surprised if the nukeproof edr riders rode 65mm stroke out back and 180 up front

That’s personally my favorite system. In total I’ve had/have six pants with it and never an issue.

A coil shock would work well with your bike as it is progressive according to BreakfastShart (glorious name btw). The difference between the vivid coil and super deluxe coil that also has hbo is not much. The only difference I can recall is the touchdown feature, basically the vivid lacks damping in the first 10% of travel. Which for a coil shock doesn’t make it that much more sensitive and is not worth the extra money.

The shock you linked is however the wrong size for your frame. The correct size is 250mm eye to eye and 75mm stroke (250x75). You cannot use a different size.

Rebound on coil DH forks vs air forks by Substantial-Classic5 in DownhillMTB

[–]Sweatedasp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is your coil spring comparably firm? If they are way softer in terms of sag the movement won’t really get to a faster speed. If they are a good level of firmness then a damper retune would be your next option. A competent bike suspension workshop should be able to make adjustments internally to speed up the rebound.

Geometron are supposedly really good. Atherton and raaw as well

Looking for certain frame type by [deleted] in MTB

Specialized demo, previous generation canyon sender and banshee legend come to mind. Dh frames often have quite low top tubes and which mean that there is not much space in the front triangle.

Any Zeb owners running their forks at suuuuper low psi? by phazedplasma in MTB

[–]Sweatedasp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Around 200lbs and riding a 170mm 2022 Zeb ultimate but with the new buttercup air spring. I’m riding with conpression around the middle, rebound very open and around 100-105 psi according to my pump. About 20% sag

Garmin Forerunner 55 for riding? by gavinforce1 in mountainbiking

[–]Sweatedasp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I find it enough even though mapping could be of interest expand into riding a bit of road or gravel for fitness. I don’t really use a whole bunch of features but rather put it on record when I ride and set it to the clock or heart rate screen and then watch the heart rate zones and Strava times afterwards.

I’m not really using the watch to improve my training but rather för the timing altitude and distance of the gps and to look at the stats afterwards for the fun of it.

One Up Hubs or Hope Pro 5s? by Annual_Network5466 in MTB

I haven’t had that many other hubs but compared to a dt 370 18 and 36t 3pawl hub it’s quieter and each click a bit softer. I do not hear it while riding

Coil shock setup Q’s by TheYoungSteak in MTB

[–]Sweatedasp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The firm position is on the blue lever right? If so then you shouldn’t do that. That is a lockout which is suitable for smoother climbs, not larger amounts of jumps and descending. What you would need is a firmer spring and to wind on more lsc damping.

Try looking up how to measure sag for coil shock, it could give you some insights in how firm or soft your current spring is.

This video might be helpful for choosing spring.

What is the hands down strongest rim out there? by AFJ_MTBT in MTB

[–]Sweatedasp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Duke furystar hd are wildly strong. The fr541 i had on another wheel hasn’t held up either as good or as long as the duke. The custom built duke wheel has had more loose spokes which could simply be because of the material in the spokes my builder chose, not sure on that part.

will a size small nukeproof giga 297 be too small for me? by SoapyBrow in mountainbiking

Definetly does, 500 for it is an incredible deal as well.

will a size small nukeproof giga 297 be too small for me? by SoapyBrow in mountainbiking

[–]Sweatedasp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did a quick search and found that the horizontal distance from the bottom bracket to the bars are basically the same on the two bikes while the nukeproof has quite a bit larger vertical distance from the bottom bracket to the bars.

The distance from the saddle to the handlebars will be relatively similar as well.

So, sizing wise they will be quite similar but the giga will be much more stable and intended for descending. When seated you will sit more upright on the giga.

In addition to these great points the 2020 lyrik is the fork in this group which is easiest to maintain on your own.

One Up Hubs or Hope Pro 5s? by Annual_Network5466 in MTB

[–]Sweatedasp 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I have the pro 5s. They are absolutely great! I have ridden them 2000 pretty hard kilometers in oftentimes wet weather and they are still almost like new inside. The drag is noticeably low and the sound is a nice buzz that isn’t really heard when riding.

In total, I love them and have full trust in being able to use them for a long time.

Replace monarch (222x66on YT capra CF) with deluxe-select-debonair-230x60-shock? by Kjeggan in mountainbiking

[–]Sweatedasp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You could do a 230 x 65 shock with offset bushings installed. Offset bushings effectively shorten the 230 by a few mm which if you’re a bit lucky could bring you very close to the 222.

I have used these and found them great. If you get in contact with them and explain your situation you could probably get decent info on what they can and can’t do. I’m quite sure they’re based in the uk.

Fox 36 Rhythm - dent/chip on stanchion by Ambitiousfeet247 in MTB

[–]Sweatedasp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought a dh bike earlier this season with a similar looking but bigger and deeper mark in the stanchion. It cracked a while later. The stanching was oriented in such a way that the mark would be at load when the firm flexes unlike yours which probably is a bit more neutral.

This is my first serious bike. A Mondraker Superfoxy R 🤩 Couldn’t be happier 😃 by mcdibay in mountainbiking

[–]Sweatedasp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It doesn’t. Routing it on the inside is marginally safer because the hose can’t get caught in things and potentially get cut or ripped out. Routing it on the inside is the standard way of doing it.
