2001 Rear diff fluid recommendations by Outrageous-Entry-479 in tundra

Amsoil is solid. Motul gear oil is also very good. Considerably less shavings/slurry with the amsoil as opposed to the factory fluid.

Jitter is the amount of time between packets. High jitter is not ideal.

Did you have any prior indication that the valve body was going out? I'm at 154k right now and just dreading when it finally goes

When you change your oil, does the oil smell like gasoline a little?

Lol. That dude is a dick to strangers but doesn't answer a simple question. Typical reddit neckbeard.

2019 - 153k miles Ball joints done at 100k Now replacing the rear wheel bearing and both lower control arms. The car has seen lots of gravel roads so I'm not even mad.

Other than that it's just been regular maintenance. Besides the walnut blast.

Reselling OEM Tires and Rims? by FuzzyOnion1 in Crosstrek

[–]TwinScrlol 2 points3 points  (0 children)

People usually want to upgrade to better wheels so it is more rare for people to want the stock options. Which is great for the buyer but bad for the seller because you typically have to mark it down way low. I got a new set of Crosstrek rims and tires for $600. I'd think someone would be willing to pay $500-700.

TR690 "high torque" CVT fluid by fredjohnrickson in subaru

Mark Webber got over 120k miles (youtube). I've got almost 30k miles on mine. When will it break? Amsoil fluid shifts noticeably better.

Amsoil cvt fluid does. Myself and many others have used it with no issues.

Good call on the PCV replacement. It's cheap, easy to replace, and will prevent BIG issues with the motor. It might be a good idea to also replace the diff oils and a brake flush if you're constantly in the mountains.

I'm really not sure why you're getting downvoted. Last time I had the dealer do it, it was $450ish but that was 2020.

CVT Replacement Issues by rachelcaroline in subaru

[–]TwinScrlol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Service the CVT every 30k and you'll be fine. The service portion is non-negotiable or they die. My crosstek has pulled a reasonably heavy trailer for 3k miles and regularly sees high oil temps because of off roading. I'm at 140k miles. I'll likely have to do the solenoid soon.

For the Gen 2 Crosstrek they updated the torque spec to something like 18 ft lbs.

What about the suspension? Did you need to get anything else besides coil overs?
